Last night Roxi and I had gotten a call from a buddy who couldn’t find any blood or his deer. He did a little looking but just couldn’t find anything due to how thick it was. We arrived this morning to where he had shot it, Roxi stuck her nose up and ran right to him was a pretty quick easy track but she was happy non than less! Hope everyone is having a good season and had a good thanksgiving!

We had gotten a call last night and we did not answer. We were sleeping and wore plum out. We woke up returned our calls and he was still wanting a track. This deer was an extremely special deer to him. The hunter had no blood to tell really what way this deer may have gone. We took the track and Roxi made quick work of 175 yards to the first bed and and another 50 yards to the second and last bed! These guys backed out and gave us a call right away, which makes it so much easier on the dog!

By far our favorite recovery of the year! They loved watching Roxi work with lots of pictures lol they were beyond excited when we finally found him! I couldnt tell who was more excited the shooter or the mom! They shot him the night before and went to track and ran out of blood at about 100 yards. After seeing the shot and blood we knew it was a liver shot and the deer would need time, we found time to squeeze them in and came the following day to take the track. 30 yards after their last blood we came up on a bloody bed. 20 yards after that another bloody bed. We went a good ways before we found another drop of blood right where there was a bunch of dead fall. Roxi struggled working her way through so we circled back and went off last blood again and once we got through that it was a fast blazing trail right to the buck! This deer left two bloody beds and 2 drops of blood in 300 yards. The deer would’ve not been found with out a dog! We couldn’t have been happier to help!

When in doubt back out!!
Give the deer all the time he needs! A dead deer will not go anywhere!

Tonight we got a call for a quick track close to home. The hunter had call said he felt confident in his shot and his arrow looked good just could find a drop of blood. Roxi and I showed up checked out the arrow all had looked good and away we went. Tracked him just short of 150 yards. There was no blood until we were right on top of him. Hunter had made a great shot just didn’t bleed. Super glad we could help! The pictures dont do a justice on the insane body size of this deer! Was far from an easy drag!

Well yesterday our phone was ringing off the hook non stop, we tracked some last night which ended up being non recoveries and finished the rest today. We decided to let this one sit over night and hit him in the morning. We took the track from about last blood which was about 75 yards from the hit sight. The last blood was at a big cliff and Roxi went right down it and right back up on the otherside. And at the top of the other side was a big pile of blood. After that we tracked about another 200 yards with no blood to this deers bed. Shot ended up being a liver shot. Glad we gave the deer appropriate time, a dead deer will go no where!

The RGR team is super thankful to have got the chance to track a Marinette County Brute! We had got a call the night before the track, the hunter said the arrow had guts and didnt have hardly any blood. He was nervous about the rain and that it would screw up the dog (we reminded him that rain will infact not screw up a dog) I told him to back out right away and well come in the following day to find him. At the 24 hour mark we went in to drop Roxi in on the track and she took us right to him without skipping a beat. He went a little over 150 yards and was dead in his first bed!

The second one was another Marinette County buck! Hunter couldn’t seem to find any blood, his arrow was full of fat and hardly no blood on it. We go to tracking and find the blood trail about 50 yards from the hit site. This deer ran yet another 125-150 yards! It was a perfect double lung shot!

Congrats to both hunters and good luck to all of those still trying to fill their tag!

Roxi and I got a call last night, the hunter knew the shot was back but was worried about all the rain. We had informed him that the rain is no challenge for a good dog. We came in around the 14/15 hour mark and put on the track, Roxi made quick work of the track. Went 200 yards to the first bed. This deer was not expired for long. Rigor mortis had not set in and the deer was warm. Just goes to show how important wait times are!

Well Roxi and I have had a busy last couple of days. I had to use her for myself on my buck which came in handy! And we had a first, a hunter had called and said he had 2 deer shot kicked one out of a bed and couldn’t find the other. I put Roxi on what little blood was there and found the first one no problem, the second one was a bit of a pain with trails crossing eachother and scent all over but about 5 minutes we were able to work through and get through the cross of beds and scent trails to find the other! All n all was a good weekend so far with hopefully more to come! I love to see the joy it brings to her and the people we get to help!

Roxi and I had gotten a call last night for a track that would be this hunters first bow buck in 12 YEARS! After talking over the lack of blood on the trail and the shallow arrow which was found 150 yards down the track we decided to give him some time. We came in after letting him sit and found him not far from where the arrow fell out in his first bed! And he was not dead for long! The arrow caught one lung and the liver, if we would not have given this deer the appropriate wait time this story could have has a different outcome!

With all the rain coming up this weekend we are putting out a friendly reminder that many people tend to rush a deer track in fear they may loose it to the rain. What a lot of people don’t know is the rain will not affect a dog, it may wash the blood trail away but the scent will still be present and in some cases the rain can even help a dog!
Good luck to all the hunters!

Well Roxi’s first track of the year ended in a recovery. The hunter knew his shot was back so after waiting a while he went to go track and jumped it out of his first bed around 80-90 yards. 15 hours later he called us and we took up the track from the bed and found his deer a few hundred yards later. This track is a great demonstration to the importance of backing out and not pushing your deer, it’s hard to not go track it but it can be the difference of finding your deer and not! We hope to have many more recoveries this season and help all who may need!
