SUPER RARE: Mod.98 Ma**er with Erma training kit. Receiver marked byf 43 (Ma**er factory in Oberndorf, Germany 1943) Waffenampt stamps over entire rifle. This little gem was given to me with two other rifles in lieu of payment for finishing a roof for a neighbor years ago. The stock had been badly refinished by the prior owner, probably with spar varnish, maybe shellac. It was almost orange, and had been wrapped too soon in a towel or something fuzzy, which gave the wood a nice beard lol! I refinished the wood with linseed oil. The barrel bands, bayonet lug, trigger guard and butt plate were all cold blued, 36 coats since they were heavily worn and silvered. The rest of the metal has its original finish. The 22 cal. barrel sleeve shows staining on the outside but is otherwise perfectly clean, with sharp shiny rifling. The magazine is detachable and holds 5 rounds. These training kits were issued to troops much like our military used the Mossberg M44. Absolutely zero recoil, and probably best to feed it "standard velocity" 22LR or better yet 22 Long (if you still have some) PM for further details!
