On Sunday, June 21st, we will conduct our annual Jaeger Championship and Feldschiessen 300m match. See the attached the scorecard for the course of fire. As you can see, a hunting smokepole will work for the first part. You will need a Swiss Karibiner 31 for the second portion. The club has Swiss Karibiner 31s for your use during this match! And the fodder for them! This is a great chance for your to explore this historical technology.

Check in between 7:30 - 8:15, safety brief at 8:30, first shots down range at 9:00

An optional, incredible steak lunch will be provided afterwards by the Monterey County Swiss Rifle Club. Bring money for that!

Father's Day, and our next Swiss rifle match, is June 21st. Followed by a costly but superb steak dinner. Before the meal, we're going to compete in a Jaeger Schutz, which involves rested hunting rifles. So... get yours ready. K-31 is optional. Anything that works the electronic scoring at 300 meters is good.

Remember also that June is a 2-match month. We will also conduct Swiss 25m pistol matches on June 27.

Photos for illustration. These are from our 2025 Father's Day shoot. A fine time was had by all.

SAVE THE DATE! About 1 or 1:30 next Friday, May 22nd, 2026. If you are rolling into town next weekend for the EIC pistol match, Someone (American Legion? VFW? Us?) MAY be holding a gathering on the afternoon of Friday, May 22nd, to commemorate the repatriation of the remains of SSgt Carl Abbott, of C Company, 194th Tank Battalion. The remains were recently recovered in the Philippines and identified via DNA. There will be a funeral that afternoon. I have no idea if we are invited or not. However, we will possibly play some role. Having kept their memories from fading for decades, it's appropriate that we celebrate his life and his sacrifice. Stand by for more information. If nothing happens, I will post that information as well, and we will celebrate him at the match on Saturday.

Yesterday we commemorated C Company, 194th Tank Battalion which fought the invading Japanese Imperial Army during the first Philippines campaign, 1941-1942. Those who survived that experienced the notorious Death March and imprisonment, and most perished. Their sister unit from Wisconsin, A Company 192nd Tank Battalion, went through the same experiences and fared even worse. Of 99 who went, only 35 survived. Here is their story.

Remembering the fallen members, and the survivors, of the “Janesville 99” tank company who endured the fall of Bataan and the Bataan death march
