The rumors are true… we are a certified hydrostatic requalification test center!! We got our Requalification Identification Number (RIN) June 1st, so be on the lookout for N729 out in the wild.

Hydro tests are a surprisingly simple concept.
Step 1. Fill cylinders with water.
Step 2. Lower cylinder into test jacket.
Step 3. Paperwork and data entry.
Step 4. Pressurized the cylinder and see how much it expands and contracts by measuring how much water gets pushed out of the test jacket.

In the beginning of the year we received a call about a mermaid statue that had fallen into Big Sur. The owner wanted to see if we could find it and bring it back. Sam and Alex did a search dive and found the mermaid taking a nap in 35’. She was a little banged up from her impromptu dive but we were able to rescue her arm and a couple of her dolphin friends. Due to its location we had to wait for the perfect weather window. In March we got the window we were looking for and got the statue! She’s at the doc getting some TLC before she goes home! Huge shoutout to Captain Phil for risking his boat and back!

I wanted to share some exciting news with you. Peninsula Dive Services is moving! These last 4.5 years at 250 Reservation Road were great. We grew a lot, making many friends and memories. But it's time we transition to a space that better suits our needs as we continue to grow and offer more services. That being said we won't be moving far. Our new address is:

455 Reservation Road Unit B, Marina, CA 93933

For the rest of this week we will still be at our current location (250 Reservation Road). We plan to move everything to the new space on Monday, April 6th. Our hours will remain the same at the new space.

While moving can be tough we have been working hard to ensure we can keep our turn around times and quality of service the same during this transition. We will reach out to everyone who currently has gear with us to ensure you know the exact location and status of your gear.

This new location will bring many exciting changes. We will share more about what we have planned in the future. But for now the first change we are excited to share is that our shop phone will now be a shop cell phone! This means those who prefer texting over emailing or phone calls can now text us. We can even bring our shop phone into the field during dive work for better communication. This change will happen next week when we officially move into the new space.

Boat cleaning is not for everyone. Sometimes you clean a boat but the boat does the opposite to you!

Boats in the Monterey Mooring Field and the Breakwater Cove Marina tend to have Caprellidae (skeleton shrimp) nesting on their hulls.

These little guys grab onto neoprene and they don’t let go. They also love to nest in beards and use them as a path to get under the neoprene. They certainly are itchy!
