Your body changes in perimenopause. That doesn’t mean your goals have to.

I’m 51 on Monday, in late perimenopause, and my waist is under 30 inches, even with the bloat you’re seeing here.

I’m paying attention to the body I have now and giving it what it needs.

Track. Understand your body. Know what to do next.

Because “this is just menopause” shouldn’t be the end of the conversation.

What’s one thing about your body you’re determined not to simply accept?

If you’re in perimenopause, you are allowed to change the way you eat, it’s actually recommended for some women, even when the people you love don’t understand it.

Sometimes people bring us food because they’re showing us love.

They mean well.

But they may not realize that the foods they’re offering don’t make us feel good, don’t support our goals, or simply aren’t what we want to eat anymore.

You don’t have to defend yourself.

You don’t need a five-minute explanation.

You can simply say:

“No, thank you. I don’t eat that. It doesn’t make me feel good.”

And leave it there.

Learning to listen to your body also means learning to stand on your choices.

Especially in this stage of life.

Have you ever had someone get offended because you said no to food? 👇🏽

I was attacked on my hike today. 😂

Spiderweb. Broken necklace. Lost sunglasses. Downed tree. FIRE ANTS. And apparently I was also trespassing in a deer’s backyard. 😂

But this hike was about so much more than the mileage.

My husband and I started doing these Georgia trails about 10 years ago. Since he’s been gone, I’ve thought about the trails we used to do together and I’ve decided I’m going back to them.

Because there’s something happening in this chapter of my life that I don’t want to miss.

I’m in late perimenopause, and instead of thinking about my body is changing, I’m paying attention to what she can still DO.

Climb rocks.
Navigate technical trails.
Build endurance.
Get stronger.
Carry me 7.3 miles.

And today, I felt alive.

This body is capable of so much more than I sometimes give her credit for.

I’m not done. Not even close. ❤️

You’ve saved the posts.
Joined the groups.
Bought the supplements.
Changed your workouts.
Tried eating “better.”

Maybe you’ve even memorized more hormone terminology than your doctor.

And yet you’re still asking:

“Okay… but what does MY body need?”

That’s the problem.

Information isn’t the same thing as a plan.

Because what worked for your friend, the woman in the Facebook group, or the influencer you follow may not be what YOUR body needs right now.

Your symptoms change.
Your energy changes.
Your cycle changes.
Your recovery changes.
Your body changes.

So your strategy has to change, too.

That’s why I don’t want you collecting more information.

I want you to TRACK.

Understand what your body is actually telling you.

Know what to do next.

That’s the difference between constantly trying things… and actually learning your body.

Your body gets a vote.

And when you know how to listen to it, you can stop asking:

“What am I supposed to do?”

…and start asking:

“What’s my next step?”

That’s my job.

Track. Understand your body. Know what to do next.

So you can ultimately feel like yourself again.

Comment SUPPORT if you’re ready to stop guessing.

I’m in late perimenopause. So yes, I’m picky about where I train.

Moving back to Georgia means I get to build a new routine and movement is always a BIG part of it.

But I’m not looking for a gym just because it has a bunch of equipment.

I want a place that supports the woman I am becoming.

A place where I can strength train, build muscle, work on mobility, move my body in different ways, and continue training for the races and challenges on my Hormone Hacker Bucket List™.

Because movement in midlife isn’t just about burning calories.

For me, it’s about strength for strong bones and a healthy libido, muscle, mobility, cardiovascular fitness, bone health, confidence, independence, and being able to keep saying YES to the life I want to live.

So I’m looking at everything.

The equipment.
The training options.
The environment.
The location.
The classes.

And whether I can actually see myself building a sustainable routine here.

Because I’m not interested in doing the most.

I’m interested in doing what my body needs now.

And that’s one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in perimenopause:

Your routine shouldn’t stay the same just because it worked before.

You track.

You understand your body.

You refine.

And then you build the routine that makes sense for this version of you.

Track. Understand your body. Know what to do next.

That’s what I’m doing in this new chapter.

New city.
New gym.
New routine.
New goals.

Same mission: build a body and a life that can take me where I want to go naturally.

And I’ve got some places to go. 😉

What are your non-negotiables when you’re choosing a gym at this stage of life?

Late perimenopause. New city. New body goals. New routine. ✨

I’m back in Atlanta, baby and one of my favorite things about a new chapter is building a new routine around the life I actually want to live.

Almost 7 miles on the Beltline.
Checking out a new gym.
Scoping out a new yoga studio

Stopped Hyper Wellness to get an energy boost with a b-complex injection.

Reconnecting with local businesses I’ve loved.
And finding my new butcher because I’m changing the way I shop, eat, move, and fuel this body. No grocery store meats, only butchers, farmers or farmers markets.

I’m also entering a new phase with my body.

I’m 11 pounds from my goal weight, so I’m shifting my focus from losing weight to sculpting, getting stronger, leaning out, and learning to eat more intuitively.

Because this is what I’ve learned in late perimenopause:

You don’t have to keep doing what worked for the woman you used to be.

Your body changes.
Your priorities change.
Your life changes.

So you adjust.

You track
You listen.
You learn.
You build again.

And honestly? I LOVE building a new routine. 😂

This is me leveling up, again.

Atlanta, I’m ready. 🥂

What would you change about your routine if you were building it specifically for the woman you are NOW and the wan upon want to become at this stage of life?

MudGirl was fun but kinda easy and it did more than help me have a fun time. It reminded me: Why am I waiting to do all of the races and challenges I’ve dreamed of since 20?

This is race number 1 on my Hormone Hacker Bucket List of races, because I’m not shrinking my life in late perimenopause.

My body is changing. I’m changing. But I’m learning it, respecting it, and still chasing my adventures. My shoulder and knee made it through this one, mobility work pays off and now I’m upping the challenge.

HYROX? A triathlon? Something wild? I’m building a bucket list and I want your ideas. I do have the Rocky Run in November but what’s next….

Tell me: What race or challenge should I tackle next? And if you’re waiting for “someday” to live fully maybe today is your sign to start. Hormones, milestones, medals, finish lines, we’re just getting started and you’re welcome to join me.

3 weeks from my 51st birthday!

Late perimenopause.
Covered in mud.
Training for races.
Laughing with my girls.
Still building. Still moving. Still living.

My body is changing.
My hormones are changing.
But my life is not shrinking.

I’m learning how to become even more powerful in the body I have now.

Perimenopause is here. So am I.

And baby… I’m making this season my bitch. 😌

Now tell me: what are you refusing to give up just because you’re getting older? 👇
