We don’t lose ability overnight. We lose it slowly…in the small moments we start avoiding movement.

Getting up off the floor. Reaching overhead. Doing what used to feel easy.

It’s not just aging. It’s movement health.

And good news, it can be rebuilt.

A message from Terry:

Today, we share the sad news of the passing of our cofounder and longtime CEO, Rich Boggs.

Rich co-founded The Step Company, dba MOSSA, and served as CEO from 1989 to 2020, helping build not only a company, but a community and culture that continues to impact people around the world.

To many in the health and fitness industry, “Big Rich” was larger than life. He was a true entrepreneur, an eternal optimist, and a force of nature whose enthusiasm was impossible to ignore. He could walk into any room and leave having made a new friend. His energy, vision, and belief in people inspired countless employees, partners, customers, and industry leaders over the years.

I joined MOSSA in 1992. Over the decades that followed, Rich became far more than a leader. He was my mentor, my colleague, and ultimately one of my closest friends. Through economic challenges, industry changes, and countless business decisions, we always found ourselves aligned in our commitment to people, purpose, and doing the right thing.

One of Rich's greatest gifts was the way he treated others. He cared far more about enthusiasm, character, and passion than titles, age, gender, or background. He believed deeply in people and gave them opportunities to grow and succeed. This is why his official title at MOSSA became Chief Cheerleader. That belief shaped the culture of MOSSA and remains one of his most enduring legacies.

Cathy, Rich, and I shared a bond that is difficult to describe. For decades, we trusted one another completely. Through every challenge and every success, we supported one another and moved forward together. It was a truly unique relationship, and one for which we will be forever grateful.

While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a remarkable life and the lasting impact he had on so many people. The values, optimism, and passion that Rich brought to MOSSA continue to guide us today.

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Morningside Presbyterian Church, 1411 N. Morningside Drive NE, Atlanta, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Please join us in remembering Rich and sharing your memories of the tremendous impact he had on our lives, our company, and our industry.

What is “strong enough,” anyway?

That’s the question a lot of people are actually trying to answer when they start strength training.

Not:
“Am I training hard enough?”

Not:
“Should this feel harder?”

Just:
“Am I doing enough to create change?”

This conversation is all about cutting through the confusion around strength training, and understanding what your body actually responds to.

Curious:
What has been the hardest part about strength training for you?

Strength isn’t about being the strongest person in the room. It’s about being strong enough for your life.

Strong enough to move well. Carry what matters. Stay independent. Handle whatever life throws your way.

That’s the kind of strength worth training for.

Spooky, scary stuff……. *shudders*

Drop your instructor horror movies in the comments.

Let’s hear it ⬇️

Muscle doesn’t change because you move more. It changes because you ask more of it.

Strength training is simple at its core: apply enough demand, consistently, and the body adapts. Not through more complexity, more time, or more randomness…but through the right level of challenge, repeated over time.

If nothing changes in the demand, nothing changes in the result. Train with intention, not excess.

Fitness isn’t just about pushing harder. It’s also about restoring what daily life takes away.

Workouts build strength and capacity.
Work-ins help your body move, recover, and feel better.

You don’t have to choose between performance and movement health. You need both 💪

It’s just a one workout, that’s all we’re saying. 🤷‍♂️
