Tame the Kraken is a 501(c)3 organization committed to raising awareness for veterans' mental health and establishing Row to Recovery, a recreational therapy rowing program designed to support veterans, their families, and communities impacted by mental health challenges. ise awareness and funds for veterans' mental health charities in both the UK and the US. That first solo row ignited a mission to help others "Tame their Kraken" and marked the beginning of what has grown into an even more ambitious goal. In June of 2025, the Tame the Kraken team—led by Tim and his son, Harrison—set out to complete the Pacific Row and be the first father & son team to do so. Over the course of 47 days, 12 hours, and 53 minutes, the team rowed 2,400 nautical miles from California to Hawaii, setting a world record and further amplifying the conversation around veterans' mental health. With the completion of the Pacific Row, the focus now shifts to the continued growth of Row to Recovery. Funds raised from this expedition will go towards establishing rowing programs across the United States, starting with the Southeast. These programs are designed to provide therapeutic, community-building opportunities for veterans, their families, and communities impacted by mental health challenges.
