Repeat after me: “you don’t have to be extreme, just consistent.”
It took me many years to fully embrace and embody this message. I grew up a military brat and in our house is was an all or nothing way of thinking. There are times I find myself slipping back into the need to be extreme but always find my way back.
Find a healthy balance of extreme and showing up for yourself. The always extreme mentality can can lead to harsh judgment on yourself when you are just not in a place to be extreme. We all have our days, weeks, months where just showing up at all took more effort then maybe the exercise itself. We’ve all been there.
Something I’ve learned in my years of teaching group fitness, rehabbing my own injuries, pregnancies and postpartum journey, is being consistent is where is counts. Giving yourself that time to care for your mind and body in a way that leaves you feeling STRONG, RESET and EMPOWERED.
As we head into our final 2️⃣ months of the year- when you find yourself obsessing over your Apple Watch stats or feeling the need to push yourself to full exhaustion - try this instead:
- Don’t wear your watch to your next workout 🙊(yes I said it)!
- Clear your mind and allow yourself to connect with your breathe and movement🙂
I choose to find joy in my fitness journey and I want that for you too. 😘
