Once again, if you remember my Instagram post from previous years, today I had my kids playing in the sand. I coached triple jump and long jump, but a lot of people always ask me, âWhy do you do this?â
I do it because life gets heavy. And as my young athletes get older, theyâre not going to run out of problems. Theyâre not going to run out of stress, pressure, or expectations. That part of life is guaranteed.
But when was the last time we just played in the sand?
When was the last time we were able to just be young⌠to laugh, to be free, to do something as simple as making sandcastles with friends?
For some of these kids, that moment doesnât come often.
Some have never experienced it.
Some have only dreamed of it.
Some come from communities where they may never see a beach or sand at all.
So I create the moment for them.
I want them to understand that life will get hardâbut donât ever stop finding joy. Donât stop doing the small, enjoyable things. Donât take for granted the little moments, because those are the ones we miss the most when theyâre gone.
I love my kids.
I love coaching.
And I love life.
So live. Love. And have fun.
