Hello there......
Few days till Christmas and couple weeks before the new years!!!! But I have a announcement.....
So after long hard thinking talked to the family about it abd they are on the same page.....in a previous post I said racing might come to a close. Well my own racing career has finally written the final chapter after 15 long years..
So before we get into the future let's reflect on the 15 years.
Way way back when I was a kid watching my dad and my uncles race every weekend only thing i could imagine was to race. Helped on race cars learned so much begging my parents to let me race. The day I got to drive a race car during the mechanic race at the old chilton fairgrounds. Summer of 2008 Steve de kurf sr let me drive his street stock for the very 1st time. And u can tell i had no racing experience at all. But I got told "once u do it ur in it for life." Well they were not wrong lol. 2009 around my bday i went to the shop by my dad to help him work on his car and someone was there and I walked in as they were finishing up a conversation. Well they left and my dad told me to get the car ready to be rolled out the shop I didn't know y or anything but ok. Few hours later come to find out my dad sold his car and bought me my own hobby stock. (Don't care what anyone says best bday present i ever got) well ended up racing it at the old chilton fairgrounds rest of 2009. After the season my dad sold the car cuz my grades sucked in school. Then I stayed with racing by just wrenching on Steve's car and helping him and my dad out in the pits. Even help build my dad a new car. Well 2015 I ended uo getting into 4cyl racing. Now did that for many many years. 2015 ehhh wasn't good learned alot but 2016 is when I started to really make a name. Had alot of support from alot of friends and family. Built alot of cars through the years totaled enough of them lol 2017 I win my very 1st feature in Luxembourg. Built a new csr for 2018 witch i didnt get to run much of 2018 but I still managed to take top 10 in points at 141 witch would lead to having my 4th top 10 in points at that time. 2019 well I rolled the car opening night at 141 took me out for the season.....but after the doc released me to drive a regular vehicle again my dad told me one day while practicing his car to get in his car and drive it cuz he saud if u dont get back in it now u never will so got to drive his csr in practice....and now I have racing experience and I fell more in love with that class...well 2019 was also my official street stock appearance racing the gravity park speedway fall invite. Dad had some health problems and I told my best friend Kyle Dimmick that day before me and him got lined up for the bmain is I really wish my dad was here maybe I could make the show then.....while I was in line up I happen to see my dad walking down pit lane to wish me luck abd drive it like I own it. Well I did just that and I made my way into my very 1st street stock feature. Well 2020 (year of covid) my dad offered to let me run his car that season long as I put the money into it. Done deal so I ran gravity. Not much really happened that year besides he let me run the gravity invite again made the show again then told me to take the car to the 141 invite. Made my very 1st appearance there with a street stock!!! Dude not so good lol. But my dad was also going through a life or death surgery soon after and he made it through it. But the 1 thing i told him is that I want him to watch me win the championship.....he ran for it in 2001 now we are goin into 2021.....his car number was 20 mine was 20. I built a 4cyl in 3 weeks and that year was the best....after fighting the car winning 4 heat races technically 3 features but I got dq one of them the night I inherited the point lead witch dropped me down to 7th in points I came back full force and grabbed the point lead the last night and won the championship!!!! In 2022 my uncle helped me redo the body on the car won more heat races (I think in total years I got 10 heat wins and technically 4 features) went down to Iowa for the bumble bee national that was fun. I somehow made my way up to 7th in the feature in Iowa but after a restart I dropped to 12th. Came back and sold the car. 2023 for my bday I got offered to run a friend's car. Did nothing 2024 as I was driving otr. Now 2025 after some things happened I ran a street stock of my own. I came out the gate just full swing! As the words of my best friend Shaun would say "stop tripping over ur own dick!!!" Most of my heat races right out the gate i could of won but I did alot of rookie mistakes lol but learned so much in 25 and I even got to race where testroete racing was 1st created.....Plymouth dirt trsck! My dad raced there in the 80s where he started is well.....where i ended the street stock.....looking back at it i wouldn't have it any other way......after my dad stepped in to help me fix the car spent hours with me on race day to fix it we made it down there......lost my breaks in the heat and csr was miss firing went out for the bmain after my dad showed up to watch and told me give it all its got I told him I'll send the rod to the moon if I gotta......well motor didnt last as I cracked a cylinder wall after coming from the back hitting the highside passed how many cars in 1 turn it blew it up......I ended my street stock career where it started witch to me I think that the best way to end a era......I got offered to run beaver dam for the 1st and last time in a 4cyl and I did just that but ran the heat there and rain out for the feature. Ran a 4cyl at 141 for the special also.
Now months have gone by and I had so much time to think about it......I did alot in my racing career.....but all good things must come to a end......after making a name for not just me but my family finishing what my dad started here is the actual announcement.......
I get asked alot of y I hung it up....well this fall my son Calvin testroete told me that he wants to get into racing.....now I wasn't goin to force him into it but it made me start thinking and after talking to his mother and my parents we all think I should do what my dad did......im officially hanging up my helmet to make way for the 3rd generation of my family and my own son to take over what his grandfather did down to his dad (me) to carry on the legacy abd make his own name out there....my dad cut the path for me I paved it to a point.....now I cut the path for my son and now he gets to pave his own road.....with that being said im officially stepping aside to let my son do it..im officially going to retire after 15 years....
As if now im signing off as a driver. And now going to focus on getting him ready to race. Been a he'll of a ride abd I wouldn't change it for anything. The friends I made on this journey to the memories I made.
Till next time.....20/48
