I didn't attend the WDHA Festival Show at Sunnyview this past weekend...but I did stop by Friday afternoon with info for the show secretary about WDHA Futurity and Maturity entries. Wound up chatting with Shelly Lehman, Deb Sauer, and Forrest Nutter for several hours while we recalled pedigrees, people and places associated with our horse history. Also wound up talking at length about our favorite mystery writers. Lovely evening, as it turned out. So glad to see the impressive win pictures on Facebook.

Also enjoyed the pictures posted by Gail Rentmeester of a 4-H visitation to Windfeather Training Center for lessons on judging conformation, with Flash, apparently, being used in demonstration. I always recognize my "pot-bellied pig," as I affectionately call him.

Home yesterday from the WDHA Gathering & Awards Banquet. Good time making connections with friends and celebrating their many impressive accomplishments. Thanks to Gail Rentmeester for chauffeuring this old body around.

Home from a two-day show at the Walworth County Fair Facility in Elkhorn. Small horse numbers, but much excellent quality. Lots of exhibitor perks (breakfast goodies, pizza feast, tack trucks, two performance rings, scads of class choices, random and championship awards. The weather was varied (understatement!)

Well, it appears that Flash will not be going to the R10 Dressage/Sport Horse Championships this year. There have been some soundness issues that we haven't completely resolved yet; and rather than push our luck and his health, we're postponing the start of our competition season. Time and age are more and more calling the shots....for horse and owner!

Back home late Tuesday eve from helping out at the Arabian stalling area at Midwest Horse Fair in Madison. Wound up spending a couple extra days in Mad Town to replace the brakes on my car, which brakes disappeared as I was driving in to the parking lot at the Alliant Energy Center on Sunday morn. It could have been worse: I could still have been on the Beltway. Anyway, it took two days to get the little blue car a new set of brakes. Next project: Horse-A-Rama Open Breed Show with clinic and classes on May 7 at Manitowoc Expo. Always something!
