What do you think is the most challenging part of diving stages?
Is it the additional equipment?
The gas management?
The task loading?
The increased complexity of emergency procedures?
Or is it simply learning to make all of it look effortless?
Jeremy and Scott are currently on Day 2 of STAGE training, and we made some solid progress yesterday. Today we’ll continue building on those skills because carrying a stage bottle is easy. Carrying it efficiently, managing it properly, and integrating it seamlessly into your dive is where the real work begins.
A good Stage Diver learns much more than simply clipping on another cylinder. Gas planning, gas switches, bottle placement, trim, propulsion, valve drills, regulator management, team awareness, problem-solving, and emergency procedures all become part of the equation. The goal isn’t just to carry additional gas—it’s to do so while maintaining the same control, awareness, and safety that you had before adding the extra equipment.
Looking forward to seeing what Jeremy and Scott accomplish today. Every dive is another opportunity to refine the details, and in technical diving, it’s often the details that matter most.
If you’re interested in extending your range, increasing your capabilities, and taking the next step into technical diving, Stage Diver training can be very valuable training.
