Spring is here and that can only mean one thing… 🌊⛵️ Wednesday Night Racing is Back!

Join us for the 2026 Skipper’s Meeting on Wednesday, May 13th at 7:00pm in the main lounge at the BYC. We’ll have light snacks, a cash & cross charge bar, and Rumson’s in the house to help kick off another incredible season on the water.

Dust off the foul weather gear, rally the crew, and get ready for another summer of close starts, tight mark roundings, and unforgettable nights in Marblehead Harbor. See you there!

New invasive species alert 🚨
The Manila clam has made its way into our local waters - and while it may look harmless, it poses a serious threat. As a filter- feeding bivalve, it can quickly out -compete native shellfish for food and space, disrupt sediment through burrowing, and even contribute to harmful algal blooms by altering coastal chemistry. On top of that, it can clog pipes, damage equipment, and interfere with fisheries and aquaculture.

The upside? It’s still early. With strong beach monitoring, consistent data collection, and quick reporting, we have a real chance to limit its impact before it spreads.

If you spot one, report it on iNaturalist - a global platform used to track species populations and support real scientific research.

Keep an eye out. Stay informed. Protect our coastline 🌊

Registration is officially OPEN for the Boston Yacht Club Memorial Day Regatta 2026 — and this year is one for the history books.

Celebrating its 60th year since the inaugural race in 1966, this iconic Marblehead event continues to set the tone for the racing season. A staple on the PHRF calendar, it’s where fleets, tactics, and early-season bragging rights all come together.
And if that’s not enough — 2026 also marks the 160th anniversary of the Boston Yacht Club. 🎉

⚓️ Boston Yacht Club Safe Boating Course
📅 March 21, 2026
🕣 8:30AM – 4:30pm

Starting April 1, 2026, Massachusetts will require anyone operating a motorized vessel — powerboats, sailboats, or personal watercraft — to complete an approved boating safety course. Get certified now and be ready for the season!

This course covers:
✔️ Navigation rules & collision avoidance
✔️ Emergency procedures to keep you and your passengers safe
✔️ Environmental protections to protect our waters

💲 Non-members: $80 total
($60 course fee — $50 supports the USCG Auxiliary — + $20 boxed lunch 🥪🍪)
💲 Members: $70 total
($50 course fee — + $20 boxed lunch 🥪🍪)
⚓️ Only 4 seats left for members
🎟 Limited to 10 non-members
👨‍👩‍👧 Minors welcome with an accompanying adult

The SnowFlake Regatta is back March 7th at Cranmore Mountain - a fun day on the slopes with sailors, friendly competition, and great vibes! Celebrating the two things Brad White loved, sailing and skiing, all while supporting Sail Salem.

The Sonars were lined up all snug on the dock,
When Santa arrived—well it gave them a shock!
He said, “Rudolph’s on break and the sleigh’s in repair,
So one of you beauties is taking me there!”
He hoisted the sails with a twinkle so bright,
And zoomed down Marblehead harbor in pure holiday delight.

Come down to BYC this Saturday 12/6 from 1-2:30 to see the latest addition to the sonar harbor fleet. Light bites will be provided.

On this giving Tuesday, we are grateful for the memories we have been able to create on the water at all levels and age groups.

Come on down to the Club this Sat, Dec 6 from 1-2:30 pm, to learn more about our continued legacy and ways you can get involved.

Members of our Sailing Committee will be on hand to answer questions. Additionally, one of the Harbor Fleet’s new sonars will be on site.

Light bites will be provided.

Rumor has it that a Fleet of new sonars are splashing in Marblehead in the spring of 2026. Be the first to learn first hand about these beautiful boats and where the BYC is in the process. Not only are the sonars used for team/match racing, they are used for junior sailing, women on the water, adult education and charter.

Head on down to the Club from 1-2:30 on Saturday 12/6 for some Holiday cheer and complimentary light bites. One of the EYC’s new sonars will be on hand to preview.
