Thank you to all the teams who participated in this year’s Thayer Trophy! It was a beautiful weekend on the water, filled with great competition and camaraderie. Thank you to our friends at Eastern Yacht Club for hosting this year’s Greenwich Cup! It was a great day of sailing, and we’re already looking forward to doing it again next year.

C*C moved one step closer to evening the series, squeaking out the win in a number of closely contested match races.

Good luck to Team C*C who will compete with our friends from Eastern Yacht Club on Sunday in a Match Racing challenge for the Greenwich Cup!

The history of the Greenwich Cup goes back to the beginnings of the Corinthian when Long Island Sound sailors from Indian Harbor Yacht Club sailed into Marblehead and challenged the Corinthian to a yacht race.

The event was reinvigorated during the pandemic and has continued each year since. We embrace the spirit of challenge, sportsmanship and friendship in this event with our neighbors from Eastern.

While this is a match race, the format changes each year and is chosen by the winners of the prior year event - last year was won by Eastern. This year, each club will put forth 3 teams which must consist of 3 of the 4 categories - a female driver, a driver under the age of 25, a driver over the age of 45 or an open boat. A series of match races are held in the harbor sonars, culminating with a winner take all final round.

Sailing for C*C are:

Female Driver Boat: Emily Maxwell, Andrew Kingston, Yati McMahon & Ben Blaisdell

Open Driver Boat: Wade Waddell, Lior Lavie, Emily Gonzalez & Duncan Swain

45+ Driver Boat: Joe Fava, Wilson Kaznoski, Sarah Brophy & Megan Banford

Sailing will be right at the mouth of the harbor beginning at 1:00 PM on Sunday, with the awards at the Eastern following racing.

As we head into the warmer months, we look forward to another wonderful season at the Club filled with poolside afternoons, waterfront views, and time spent with family and friends.
