Our Story
----
Every time we got into our car and headed out west towards the family ranch, nestled deep in the Dead Horse Mountains, I knew an adventure was in the making. What else could you expect from a group of wild cowboys, classic southern women, and 8 young rambunctious teenagers on thousands of acres of raw and rugged desert? Wild life, deep arroyos, and canyo
ns welcomed us in on a 14 mile dirt road and my heart would start pounding recklessly in my chest. We lived freely out here and I learned how to explore and connect with and within wild places. Love, laughter, struggle, and most importantly, food, characterized these frequent visits to the ranch. I can’t say every single moment was awe-inspiring, but adventure includes trials and tribulations! I quickly learned that the Chihuahuan Desert was not always the most forgiving place, but if you can persevere she offers an unparalleled reward. I went searching for this feeling of community and adventure that was experienced in natural places and found it working as an outdoor guide all across the U.S. However, as I was trying to recreate my childhood experiences my uncles, aunts, and cousins got older, married, and moved away. Before I knew it, the reaches of our family ties were stretched to the point where those memories of our ranch gatherings were all but fleeting moments dancing briefly on the wind until settling back down again into the forgotten. Hidden Dagger Adventures was created, not as a way to relive or replace, but instead an opportunity to bring forth new memories. Whether it’s sharing delicious meals while overlooking Mexico, canoeing through 1000ft canyons, or backpacking in the mountains, we hope to bring people from all walks of life together in this diverse and truly wild place! See what stories you bring home after an adventure in West Texas with Hidden Dagger Adventures.
