On Monday, November 3rd Emmett Merryman represented our MHS Dolphins in the Regional Golf Tournament at The Park in West Palm Beach. Emmett began his round on the back 9 holes of the course shooting a 52 and finished the front 9 with a 43. Although Emmett did not move on to the State Finals next week, this event was a wonderful experience. Congratulations to Emmett on this achievement and to all of our Golfin’ Dolphins on a spectacular season. We are so proud of you all! 💛💛💙⛳️💙💛

Official Announcement

Due to an unfortunate miscalculation by the scoring committee on the tiebreaker from yesterday’s District 1A-16 championship, Roco Piscetello was mistakenly awarded the regional berth. It was announced that Roco won the tiebreaker, but after a thorough review and confirmation by the FHSAA, it has been determined that Emmett Merryman is the rightful winner of the tiebreaker.

Emmett Merryman (FR) will represent Marathon at the Class 1A Region 4 Championship at The Park West Palm Beach on Monday.

We apologize for the confusion and congratulate Emmett on this amazing achievement. We are extremely proud of both Emmett and Roco who have battled all year long as our #1 and #2. This does not take anything away from the fantastic season Roco had, which was highlighted by an impressive 4- 1st place finishes throughout the season.

Huge day at Crandon Park on Key Biscayne for the Dolphins. A great team score of 350 for a 4th place finish overall as a team- 2 strokes behind 3rd place Westminster Christian and 9 strokes behind Regional qualifying Palmer Trinity.

On the individual side, a HUGE congratulations to Junior Roco Piscetello on his top 5 finish with an 83, good enough to earn a Regional berth next week in West Palm Beach. Roco and Emmett Merryman tied for 5th, with Roco earning the berth by way of tie breaker.

What a day! Go Dolphins!

Congratulations to all the MHS golfers this season. The biggest congratulations goes to Roco Piscetello on making the Regional Tournament next week in Palm Beach County. Chime in if you remember differently, but we have gone back 23 years and cannot remember the last Dolphin golfer to qualify for the Regional Tournament. Great season Golfin Dolphins. MHS golfers Roco Piscetello, Emmett Merryman and Westminster Christian’s Jake Suarez each shot 83 in the District 1A-16 Boys Golf Tournament creating a three-way tie for a chance at a Regional Berth. A back-nine scorecard playoff comparison put Piscetello ahead of the others to break the tie and secure a Regional spot.

MHS Girls’ District Tournament

On a Wednesday, 10/30 our Golfin’ Dolphin’ girls participated in their district Tournament at Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach. Junior Justice Lee finished her round of 18 holes with her personal best scores of 59 on the front nine and 61 on the back nine for a 120 on the day. Sophomore Makenna Haines ended her season with a score of 142 with so much improvement shown over the span of our season. The girls battled a tough course with extremely windy conditions. We would like to say a huge Thank You to our parents, to Florida Keys Country Club, Key Colony Par 3, all of our volunteer coaches and to the Marathon community for your support of our golf program this year!

Boys Districts Update

Tuesday, 10/29 our Golfin’ Dolphins participated in the 1A District 18 Tournament. Our Dolphins placed 4th overall as a team. Leo Mendez finished his Senior campaign with a 12th place finish with a 90, while Senior Mason Thornton followed at a tie for 16th with a 93. These two young men have had a great final season and we wish them well in their future endeavors. Freshman Luca Picariello finished strong with a 95 followed by Sophomore Roco Piscetello with a 96. Sophomore Cullen Coleman-Sayer completed the round tied for 29th with a 110. Our Dolphins finished off a stellar season with many new accomplishments to add to our collection. Coaching these golfers has been an honor and pleasure and we cannot thank our Seniors enough for their leadership on and off the course. Thank you to Florida Keys Country Club, Keys Colony Par 3, all of our assistant and volunteer coaches, the Marathon community and to the parents of these young people.
