I recently watched a telecast where the speaker at the lecturn was in front of many seated behind. Whereas, the speaker was engaged those behind were dozing off, distracted or had the "dulls". If you are in the "behind" crowd consider looking at the speaker with interest (even if you have heard the presentation several times before." If you are the speaker remember to TURN AROUND on occasion to look at your "behind" audience. Give it a try.

• dramatic and exciting you can speak louder.
PITCH/INFLECTION MEANS THE HIGHNESS OR LOWNESS OF THE SPEAKERS VOICE. The changes in the pitch are known as inflections. It often, in my opinion, reflects “attitudes”. Consider the following:
• When you speak in a monotone voice you tell your listeners you have nothing of importance to emphasize. But when you vary the pitch of your voice, you let them know that what you are saying is important and worth listening to.
• Just like we should vary the volume we should vary the pitch to achieve the best effect. For example, you can speak in a low tone when you quote someone. The change in pitch will suggest thay you are expressing another person’s view and not your own.
