What a weekend!!! First and foremost we would like to thank MG Powerlifting, American Strength, and each and every volunteer who made this weekend possible. Thank you for putting on an amazing meet. Don’t think the amount of work, time, energy, and effort goes unnoticed.
With that being said I would like to give a huge congrats to Connie Geiger Matt Hogen Hylen Jesse Moen and our very own Mic Marie. There were two state records broken this weekend, the Master 3 squat record was broken by Connie at 237lbs, and the Masters 1 Bench press record was broken by Jesse at 137.8lbs. Great job you two.
I would like to say that I am insanely proud of Jacob. His first time one the platform and he absolutely killed it. Not only did he PR on every lift but he also hit a rack height PR by maxing out the height the rack can go!!!! I can’t express in words how exciting it was to see him on the platform after years of work. Seeing a 7ft human squat to depth with amazing technique is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I look forward to what the future holds for you young man.
This was the first meet that matt did with us and boy was it a great time! Not knowing how he works in a meet setting I would say we clicked quite well. When we talked about this meet and his goals he mentioned wanting to do better than his previous meet, and that’s exactly what he did. He added almost 40lbs to his total and hit a PR in each lift, I would say that is mission accomplished.
I cannot wait to see the performance that connie is going to bring to nationals next year. If this weekend was a preview of what’s to come it is going to be a great time. I know you wanted a little more out of this meet but it is coming Connie just you wait. The amount of growth you have made from meet to meet is astonishing and you will only get better. I believe that we now have to address you as State Record holder Connie now 😉
It has been a while since michalea has competed but she came back in force finishing the day going 8/8 and a third place finish. It was nice seeing you back out there.
And Jesse who also has has been away from the platform for a while came saw and finished with a silver medal and a state record. Also congrats on hitting your 300lb deadlift.
Great job all around ladies and gents, can’t wait to see what the future holds for you all.
