If your “fitness routine” consists of only or predominantly high intensity/ hamster wheel workouts (movements and exercises whose primarily goal is caloric burn/ elevated heart rate) and you’re wondering why you’re plateau-ing, not getting changes in your body composition, or feeling tired all the time, re-think your program.
Out of a 30 day cycle, we only have 8 high intensity, or what we call ‘work capacity’ days. By design most of our members will make only 4-6 of those a month on average.
A big reason we vary intensity .mvmtco is to not exacerbate your current stress levels and because that’s how people at the highest levels of athletics train. Like people who actually get paid to perform.
I know we’re not Oympians, but world class athletes like Lebron, or Tom Brady, do not train HIIT, nor do they do 3 rep max deadlifts or anything on the barbell for that matter, because their trainers understand that the barbell is a very sport specific tool (specific to Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting) and trainers who need to resort to the barbell in many cases simply aren’t resourceful enough.
Their routines in the gym are made to keep them durable, alleviate instead of exacerbate stress, and to help them perform at their best.
This is not new information, and the rest of our industry, gyms and trainers alike, need to step their game up. You deserve better!
We are just recently getting acquainted with , but find ourselves in alignment with his principles and approach. We don’t recommend following a lot of gyms or trainers in the social sphere as many aren’t quite worth their weight in gold, but this guy is different.
Give him a follow, and slide in our dm’s if you’d like to try a class.
