When I first became a math teacher, one of my biggest goals wasnโt just to teach formulas or help students pass tests, it was to build real, meaningful relationships. I wanted my students to know they had someone in their corner. Someone who sees them, believes in them, and refuses to let them give up on themselves.
Iโve always believed that before students can solve equations, they need to feel valued. Many of them are navigating academic struggles, social pressures, and economic challenges that most people never see. If I can be someone who understands those challenges and still pushes them toward excellence, then Iโm doing more than teaching math. Iโm helping shape confidence and resilience.
Some of the most meaningful moments in my career havenโt just been about test scores. Theyโve been about supporting a student through college level math classes, talking through life decisions, encouraging fitness or sports goals, or simply offering advice when they need direction. Watching students grow not just academically, but personally, thatโs the real reward.
Yes, content matters. Mastery matters. Discipline matters. But what lasts far beyond the classroom is how we make students feel. They may forget the exact lesson on geometry proofs or quadratic functions, but they will never forget the teacher who believed in them when they doubted themselves.
My mission has always been bigger than math. Itโs about building strong minds, strong character, and strong futures. And I will always choose to lead with care, high expectations, and belief in every single student who walks through my door.
Huge thanks to K Pheng Muas & FIT IV LIFE Life for creating a space where my students can grow, in training and in life.
Proud coach. Proud teacher.
