The pool will open as normal today, but we are keeping an eye on the weather. If nothing else it’s a great day to come on down and get your pool passes for the year!

What an amazing first day of the season! 150ish of you decided to visit us on a day with perfect pool weather! Had to be our best first day ever! It was a great stress test for some new guards 😁!

Good morning Mapleton Pool people!! Today is finally the day!! Pool opens at 12:30. The water is a perfect 83 degrees. The new lounge chairs are out. The slide has a fresh coat of wax on it. And most of all we are ready to finally welcome you back to the pool for the summer!!
Claire will be your manager of the day and Wyatt will be there helping you get your pool passes set up. Cash or check only, we do not accept credit cards. There are a few ATMs around town if you need them. Please if at all possible no larger bills or we could run out of change quick.

We got the good word! The pool will be open starting tomorrow. Saturday hours are 12:30 to 5:00. Then are regular schedule from here on out.
Sunday- Thursday’s- 12:30-5:00 open swim
5:00-6:30 Adult swim
6:30-8:30 night pool
Friday - Saturday day pool only- 12:30-5:00.

We are offering Private and public lessons this seasons. Please come to the pool house to sign your child up. Public lessons run from June 15th-26th. Private’s cost $70.00 and public’s cost $50.00

We will be offering water aerobics again this season with Tabitha Bockelman. What evenings would work better Tuesday or Wednesday? Once we decide we will post a schedule.

Here is our update.

Well I promised a pool update today. I was hoping I would have better news but here it goes.
The gutter system that feeds water and returns the water in the pool has sprung a leak. The leak amounts to about 50,000ish gallons a day. We know it’s only going to get worse and we can’t operate that way. We were hoping it was the pipe that supplies the system so we dug that up. No such luck. There are two ways of finding the leak. First would be to keep tearing up concrete until we find it. That will get expensive quick. The second is to find a pool contractor that has the equipment to find it. We have called four contractors. Three promised they would be here within a day. None showed up. Our normal company that would do this is dealing with a high number of other pools that are also having issues. There is currently three other pools ahead of us with them. We continue to look for other contractors. We are still hopeful to be open within a week or ten days.
More updates as I get them. Sorry for the delay in opening, but this happens with older pools like ours. The guards are aware and will work on swimming lesson schedules when we know more.
I can already assume the comments are coming saying season passes should be discounted. We don’t even know what these repairs are going to cost yet. If we need to make adjustments on pricing the council can decide that at the next meeting.

We had full intentions of opening the pool this weekend. Those plans changed today as we have run into a mechanical issue. We are currently hoping to be open by next Saturday, May 30th. We will post updates here.

We had lifeguard training this morning at the pool. If it looks like a lot of kids, it is. In fact we broke the class into two. We invited the Onawa Pool guards over to get their training done as well since they are not able to fill their pool yet.
We are one week away from opening day! If you want to get your pass early, or pay by credit/debit card, you can visit city hall.
