First Batizado and troca de cordão is a wrap!
In this moment, I would like to pause and reflect on what this has meant to me. Having talked to all of the teachers and students this weekend, from all different groups, it has really clarified for me what I had originally envisioned, what I saw as perfection for this event. I wanted to create a space where, regardless of what group or style of capoeira you come from, we come together to create the community where the students can flourish and create the relationships that will forever have a positive impact on their lives. For this, I am thankful to both the old guard and the new. Those that pass on what capoeira has given to them and to those that are part of the next generation, who like a sponge, soak up and embody our hopes and our dreams for what comes next. The students are the ones that keep us going and constantly remind us of why we do what we do, day in and day out. We are merely guides in the journey that is yours, and we can only hope that we can give to you as much as you give to us Obrigado por todos. Axé.
