LAST CALL FOR THE GAUNTLET.

The roster is getting heavy, the last-minute additions keep coming in, and we are getting close to shutting it down so we can build brackets.

June 19-21 at Dragon’s Lair Axe & Tap in Maple Grove.

Hatchet. Big Axe. Knives.

This is Norway's World Cup sendoff photo. We love this because it gets something right that sports keeps forgetting: the journey IS the glory. Before any medal, any podium, any final score, there's the work, the crew beside you, and the moment you stand at the water's edge ready to set sail.

And the Lair has its own tie to the land of fjords. Our own Dia Thelen, one of our 2026 World Championship Hatchet throwers and the longest tenured axemaster in all of Minnesota, spent 18 months in Norway earning her Masters, throwing axes, and befriending reindeer. (We cannot verify the reindeer. We choose to believe.)

Congratulations to every athlete headed to the World Cup, and a special skål to Team Norway for assembling a palette of gifted athletes in a presentation that feels very, very familiar to everyone here at Dragon's Lair. We saw this photo and immediately took attendance.

Congratulations to our very own Randall Wildeman who took on an exceptional field at the National Tournament this past weekend at ANVIL in Neosho, MO and reigned victorious.

There is still time to get in on one of the biggest throwing events of the season, and yes, the FREE Gauntlet jerseys are still available for all registered throwers.

I went with Jersey #2, because apparently I enjoy looking like I walked out of a lava pit ready to throw. But I’ll be honest, #1 and #3 are both strong too. So strong, in fact, I’m probably buying both of those as well. Self-control was not invited to this tournament.
