COURSE MAINTENANCE ALERT! Both of my ZTRs are going to the shop for work right as I was getting caught up on mowing. The grass is a bit taller than I'd like it to be right now, and I've seen and heard from visitors that the ticks are real bad out there this year - so - I'm advising players to wait until further notice to come out and play. If you'd rather brave the elements and come out and play anyway, I'm suspending the fee charge until I get one of the mowers back & can continue. You're going to want bug spray, specifically those designed to repel ticks. At this point I have no idea when, but my experiences with the limited number of places in this area that work on Husqvarna have taught me, it could be a couple of days, it could be six weeks. I will post updates here as I can, and also will be tracking mowing progress on the green bulletin board kiosk at the south end of the parking lot. So it's a little like a risk-reward situation right now, you can play Wild Haven for free, just be very aware that it is not in the nicely mowed condition I'd prefer to have it be. Some holes have hardly any growth, some have really exploded with the recent rain/cooler temps. Sorry about the inconvenience, and we hope to be up and running at 100% ASAP.

Many of our visitors this summer have asked about the prospect of a tournament at Wild Haven. It's been a few years, and the last few times that I've tried to run something there have been zero people signing up...mostly due to too many other things going on. There is an opportunity to squeeze in one event yet before the end of the season: I'm looking at Sunday, October 19th. Nothing else going on that day in the area; it is the day after the Space Race @ Almira. Could sanction it as a C Tier. You can simply "like" the post or comment if you'd consider playing, if it looks like I can get a decent turnout we can make this happen. Both courses are open and in the best shape they have ever been. Please share this in any of the other FB disc groups in the area, and I'll post an update in a couple days, since I'd really have to get the wheels rolling on this pretty fast. So what do you think?

For those of you that have not been to Wild Haven in some time, you need to revisit and check out the changes. Both courses are fully open, and there are two professionally constructed water hazards - Little Bigfoot #3 and #12, and Yetisburg #10 and #18. Bigfoot had 4 holes redesigned this past year, Yetisburg had a basket relocation on #2 and #6. New tee signs on both courses.

For those of you that wondered where I came up with the name "Little Bigfoot"... most visitors assume incorrectly that since it has "Little" in its name it must be easier than Yetisburg gold? No, it got its name because I'm a military history nerd. "Yetisburg" might be a little easier guess as to what battle the course was named after. Also hoping for consistent good health & weather & mower functionality over the next few days so I can get the rest of Little Bigfoot ready to play by the 4th of July!

Native American forces led by Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull defeat the U.S. Army troops of Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer in the Battle of the Little Bighorn, also called Custer's Last Stand.

Slope Report: most of the snow is gone for a lot of the course, except those shady holes on the north side (Yetisburg 11 & 12). Another warmup expected next week. I will be out there over the next couple of days, doing inventory in the Shop mainly. Some of the tee pads might still be covered, but I hope to get some time to clear what I can this weekend - otherwise consider the course OPEN for 2024, earlier than ever before!! Still need to do some tree clearing on Little Bigfoot, although the major work on #18 was done before the snow got too deep so its getting closer to being a real course once again. New tee signs are also in progress for both Little Bigfoot and the Sasquatch Safari layout. Yetisburg had all new signs installed last year showing all 6 tee locations and correct distances. I'm also working on getting the Pro Shop online, one of the options will be free pick-up from the shop to save on shipping costs. I'll also have the Season Pass option up and running again, if you were a member in 2023 and provided your email, I'll be sending a note out to you all shortly about renewing. In case anyone is looking for a place to have an event in 2024, send us a message. We'll host your event with no "facility" fees or per player fees. You can bring your own merchandise for Am payouts, or you can use our Pro Shop for 80% cost (you only have to pay us $8 for every $10 of prize discs used). Beautiful day here at Wild Haven…tomorrow also, but Friday it’s back to “normal” northern Michigan…just in case anyone else wants to enjoy some summer like disc conditions.
