Congratulations are in order for Manteno Panthers own Lucas Hetman as he finished top 6 at 16U Illinois Freestyle State!!

Lucas is currently 13-3 in his Freestyle season with his 3 losses being the three FS national qualifiers including the FS State Champ and Greco State Champ.

Congratulations Lucas and best of luck as he attempts to qualify for Nationals at the Second Chance Qualifier!

Coach Matt is going Pro!

Congratulations and best of luck to Coach Matt Ryan who is making his MMA pro debut at APFC 23 on March 29th in Milwaukee!

Matt wrestled for us for 4 years until he graduated in 2019 where he was a 2x Sectional Qualifier. Coach Matt has volunteered his time since his graduation to making our program and wrestlers better young men. He is currently the co-owner and head coach at Outliers MMA in Manteno.

Congratulations to Kennedy Mort on her 8th place finish at the IWCOA girls championship open. Kennedy battled her way through a bracket of 40 girls to take 8th place and finished her junior year season with a final record of 35-12.

Sophomore Shaun Chantome competed well in the IWCOA Fresh/Soph State Championship going 2-2 in his second trip to Springfield.

Congratulations to our Soph. Shaun Chantome for making it to the State Tournament for the IWCOA Stats Series!

He will wrestle tomorrow, in Springfield, against other freshmen and sophomores from around the state!

Today our Manteno Middle School wrestlers took on their 2026 Regional tournament, ultimately walking away with First Place!

The Panthers had One third place winner, Seven second placers, and Six regional champions!

In total, 14 wrestlers will move on to the Sectional tournament this next weekend (3/7), fighting for an opportunity to compete at the State Tournament! Great work Panthers!!!

Panther Sophomore Lucas Hetman has earned a trip to Champaign!

Congratulations to Lucas on placing 4th at the IHSA Sectional tournament this weekend at Coal City High School.

Lucas carries a 30-11 record at 165 pounds for his first trip to State! Good luck next weekend Lucas!

Today the Panthers travelled to Coal City to compete in the 2026 ICE Conference tournament. Our boys wrestled tough, ultimately placing So. Carter Webber at 106lb, Jr. Kayden Budimir at 157lb, and So. Shaun Chantome at 190lbs, all at Third Place. Additionally, So. Ethan Punzalan at 132lbs, and Jr. Franklin Jordan at 215lbs took 4th place.

To end the tournament, coaches from around the conference met to decide the 2026 All-Conference awards for each weight class. So. Lucas Hetman at 165lbs earned the award at his weight class based on his regular season performance.

The Panthers will return to Coal City next Saturday (1/31) to wrestle in their Regional Tournament to kickoff the IHSA State Series!

This past weekend our Panther wrestlers travelled to Reed-Custer High School to compete in the 2026 Comet Classic Tournament. Our boys wrestled tough throughout the two-day tournament and ultimately ended with our 165 pound wrestler Lucas Hetman taking 5th place!

The Panthers will wrestle their final regular season dual meet against Wilmington at 5:30pm this Thursday (1/22) at WHS, before preparing to wrestle in the ICE Conference Tournament this Saturday (1/24), then on to Regionals next week!

Anyone notice any festive carolers over the weekend?

This past Saturday, our high school wrestlers participated in our annual Christmas run! The Panthers and coaches took to the streets in their jolly outfits and stopped by a few houses along the way! The Panthers have been doing this run for many years now, and enjoyed a hot breakfast at our very own Yannis Cafe following the run. Just another reason to come out and join the Manteno Wrestling family! Happy holidays from us to you!!
