For those thinking of floating soon:

The stanislaus river is dangerous right now!!
At this time last year it was moving at 200 cubic units per second and now its moving 5000. That means not being able to maneuver and avoid trees, bushes etc, and fighting the current in corners and whirlpools is almost impossible. (And thats sober). Now add in alcohol, heat exhaustion, inexperience, and cheap flotation stuff... (oh and the water is 49 degrees right now, enough to cause beginnings of hypothermia in a matter of minutes if you were forced to be in the water even when its 90 degrees outside)

Lets be real here, we dont go out with life vests, our tubes are cheap and most people are "ok" swimmers in a calm swimming pool, and alcohol usually flows pretty freely when we do this.

I dont want to lose anymore people i care about... please make good choices my friends.
