Gordon Hartman is a former homebuilder and real estate developer from San Antonio who was inspired to create a more inclusive world after seeing his 12-year-old daughter, Morgan, who has physical and cognitive disabilities, left out while other children played at a hotel pool in 2005.

Determined to build a place where people of all abilities could play together, Hartman sold his successful homebuilding business, founded the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation, and invested $34 million to create Morgan’s Wonderland, which opened in 2010.

The park has since grown into a $51 million destination that has welcomed well over a million visitors. Staying true to its mission, admission is free for guests with special needs, while companions pay a small fee. Spread across 25 acres, every attraction—from an accessible Ferris wheel and sensory village to the fully wheelchair-friendly Morgan’s Inspiration Island—was designed to accommodate people with a wide range of physical and sensory needs. About one-third of the park’s staff also consists of individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities, reinforcing its commitment to inclusion both on and off the attractions.
