Calling all MRPC members… Join us at the gun club this Wednesday, 8/5, as we celebrate the 6th annual Earl “Dudsie” Johnson day. This day was created to allow members to get together and celebrate as we thank Dudsie for his six plus decades of dedicated service to the club in an effort to make it a better place for all to enjoy.

We will be having a pig roast complete with buns, potato salad, beans and coleslaw. Cost for members and guests will be $10.00 per person. A few deserts will be needed if you are able to bring one to pass.

Also, we will be drawing the lucky winners for the Schoolcraft County Clay Busters Youth Shotgun Club raffle. Tickets will be available for purchase right up until 7:00pm when the winners are drawn. Hope to see you there!!

The Schoolcraft County Clay Busters Youth Shotgun Club recently traveled to the Michigan Trap Association Homegrounds in downstate Mason, MI to participate in the 2026 Michigan Scholastic Clay Target Program State Trap Championships on 6/27 and 6/28. The weather was great and large crowds were in attendance as our kids posted some of their best scores of the year.

Congratulations to Andrew Coyer who broke 185/200 targets and shot high score for our team. Congrats also to Landon Weber who broke 50 straight targets and to Cole Herbst, Carsyn Herbst and Paxton Gierke who all shot perfect rounds of 25 straight during the competition. Finishing strong also was first year competitor Gunnar Nord who broke 64/100 targets and placed 13th out of 25 kids in the Rookie Division (5th grade and under).

This competition wrapped up the shooting season for the club. We’ll continue to shoot recreationally in preparation for the 2027 shooting season. We’ll certainly miss our departing seniors Cole Herbst and Landon Weber. We thank them for their leadership and contributions to our club over the years.

Reminder that 2026 SCCB raffle tickets will be on sale right up until our drawing on 8/5/26. Tickets are for sale locally at Ace Hardware, Thompson Vet Clinic and UP Vet Clinic. We also have tickets for sale on Wednesdays at the gun club. We’ll also have a booth at Folkfest and the Salmon Derby weigh in where tickets will be for sale. This raffle is our main fundraiser with proceeds used to purchase ammunition for competition and practice, pay for practice rounds and pay for registration fees for conference and state competitions. Please consider purchasing raffle tickets to support our club. Thank you!
