2026 Schoolcraft County Claybuster Youth Shotgun Club raffle tickets are now available for purchase! This raffle is our main fundraiser with funds generated being used to offset costs related to the purchase of ammunition, shooting fees and registration fees for conference and state competitions. We’d like to thank all of our generous raffle donors.

Tickets are available locally at the Manistique Rifle and Pistol Club, Ace Hardware, Thompson Vet Clinic and UP Vet Clinic. If you are from out of the area but you would still like to support our youth trap team you can send a check to SCCB at 3277W North Gulliver Lake Road, Gulliver MI 49840. We’ll keep the stubs and mail the prize portion of the tickets back to you. If you are lucky enough to win a gun we will gladly ship it to an FFL of your choice in your area.

We have a few open spots currently on our roster if you know of a youngster that may be interested in learning safe firearm handling skills and the fundamentals of clay target shooting. We have had kids as young as 4th grade all the way up to 12th grade. We have a great group of kids and we’re are excited to begin our 6th year! The Manistique Rifle and Pistol Club wrapped up a busy winter season with the Pistol Club Shoot on 3/25/26. Kris Hewitt was crowned the Centerfire Top Gun and Kevin Demers once again claimed the .22 Top Gun spot. Congratulations gentlemen!

For anyone who is interested, The Houghton Lake Sportsmans Club will be hosting a USPSA Range Officer Conference on April 11th and 12th. Use the link below to register. It’s been a busy winter at the club and we will now be wrapping up the winter pistol leagues with the club shoot next Wednesday, 3/25.

We will start (8) week indoor .22 rifle leagues on 4/1. There are leagues for both Optic and Open Sight guns. We shoot standard pistol targets freehand at a distance of 25yds. These leagues have been very competitive over the last several years and they are a ton of fun. Everybody has a .22 rifle so dig it out, get it cleaned up, and come on out and give it a try. We have CCI SV and CCI Mini Mag .22lr ammo available for purchase at the club. See you there!

Proudly displaying their bling rings are Nick Bosanic left (3rd place), Kris Hewitt center (1st place), Nick LaFave right, (2nd place).

We had a great turnout last night for our second annual chili cookoff. A big Thank You goes out to all that came out to eat and to all the chili chefs! We had eleven excellent chili entries and the judging was close once again. Kris Hewitt took first place honors and Nick LaFave and Nick Bosanic tied for the second place spot. This years tiebreaker was one shot with a neutral .22 pistol, that neither had shot before, at 25yds on the indoor range. Closest to the X ring would win second place. Nick LaFave stepped up and calmly placed his shot directly into the center X ring. Nick Bosanic was just outside in the 10 ring. Thanks to BJ Tiglas for loaning his gun for the tiebreaker.

A great time was had by all and the event raised $320.00 for the Schoolcraft County Claybusters Youth Shotgun Club. Thanks again to Corey Frankovich and Kris Hewitt for organizing this event. Congratulations to Kris for earning bragging rights until next year!

There is still plenty of time to get your .22 and Centerfire winter pistol league rounds in. Come on out.

We have a Holster Workshop going on at the club house on Sunday January 11th being taught by Jason Hubble of Joyful Noyz Fi****ms Training. He will be going over the different concealed carry options for people. The pros and cons of each, and will be evaluating your own holster. He will also be doing instruction on how to properly draw from a holster effectively. If you don't have a gun and holster no worries he can rent one to you. You can also come to class and just get some hands on with different holsters. Class will be limited on space so get signed up. Contact Jason for more information or to get registered.
