The Morning coffee break around 6am before our athletes start rolling in when we take some time to soak in and appreciate all the work that was put in up to the start of the Rusty Fish. It is at this point as race directors we can finally take a breath, knowing that once the race begins so to does the fun! (Zach not pictured, because at this point he is already out in the woods hiding cameras and drones to capture our riders taking on the challenge.) We can't wait to see you at the start line for the 2025 Rusty Fish. And I can't wait to have a beer with you at the Finish! Cheers. James-

The Rusty Fish is more than just a gravel bike race.
It’s a celebration—of riding, of nature, of community.

It’s about coming together to share a love for the ride, a love for the stunning backroads of Manistee County, and a deep sense of gratitude that we get to do this. We live in one of the most beautiful places in the country, and there’s no better way to experience it than on two wheels.

What I love most is that this event welcomes everyone.
Whether you're chasing a personal best, tackling your first gravel race, or just out for a ride with friends, there’s a route—and a place—for you here.

Some will test their limits. Others will soak in the moment.
But all will finish with a smile, surrounded by great people, great gravel, good food, and a cold beer in hand.

We enjoyed every moment of the 2024 Rusty Fish, (most moments..) That said Dyllan, Zach, and I have been working every day since to put improve, and evolve for this years Rusty. Our route mad scientist Zach has hammed home some really beautiful, fun, and in some parts slightly challenging routes. Together and separately we have been out lobbying and working on our mission of maintaining, and growing our trail systems while also trying to secure funding for future growth. Outdoor recreation is our focus and the Rusty Fish helps us put focus on that mission. We hope you join us this year, Saturday October 4th.
