As a parent, you know that it’s physically impossible to watch your children 100% of the time. I have heard countless stories of parents turning their back for “just a moment” and turning around to see something unexpected.

With survival swim lessons, like ISR Self-Rescue, a moment’s inattention does not need to cost a child their life or lead to lifelong injuries.It’s not fun to think about, but drowning happens every day. Nearly 1,000 children in our country lose their lives to drowning every single year.

Prepare your child for the unexpected. As soon as your child is six months old and can sit up unassisted, they can learn how to self-rescue. ISR creates a strong foundation for a lifetime of safe enjoyment around the water. It could also make all the difference if your child has a water emergency.

These do nothing but tell your child they can swim when in fact they can't. 70% of drownings occur during non-swim times and a young child is not going to differentiate whether they have on their puddle jumper or not. They are going to assume they can swim even after it is taken off. This device in particular keeps their bodies in the drowning position, a vertical position, while they're in the water, teaching them poor swim posture so that when they inevitably enter the water without it, they will instinctively go into that vertical position (the drowning position) because they were never taught that that is not the proper way to swim.

This is why survival swimming lessons are so important and should be implemented before water is taught that it is fun! "But life jackets make them roll over." A properly fitted life jacket should make them horizontal with the water, which is exactly the position their body should be in, both for swimming and for floating on their backs.

That's how long this child was in the water before anyone realized what had happened.

This image is a powerful reminder of how quickly and silently drowning can occur.

1- The children were supposed to be out of the pool.
2- One adult was actually in the pool.
3- One adult was tending to another child.
4- One adult was sitting just feet away.
YET NO ONE HEARD THE CHILD ENTER THE WATER!

Notice the flotation device left on the deck. Many children who regularly wear flotation devices have not yet developed the skills to save themselves if they enter the water without one.

Thankfully, this child survived. Tragically, many others do not.

We are not posting this to shame anyone. It's about understanding that drowning doesn't look or sound the way most people expect. It is often silent, and it can happen in seconds—even when adults are nearby.

That's why we stress layers of protection: self-rescue swim lessons, barriers, active adult supervision when children are in or near the water, and never relying on flotation devices.

It only takes as little as 21 seconds to lose a child to a drowning. PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD BECOME A STATISTIC.
