The Ogre's Forge Welcome to The Ogre's Forge, custom knives of all types including bowie, utility, hunting, combat and coming soon, KITCHEN.

We make knives of all styles and out of any materials. All our knives are made in our shop with various steels including 52100 high carbon, ATS-34 Stainless steel and O1 Tool steel. Handle styles range from hidden tang partial stacked, full stacked to full tang slab handles and mosaic. Our handle materials range from whitetail to caribou antlers, to exotic woods such as Brazilian tiger-wood, blood wood, desert iron wood and man made materials including micarta and carbon fiber. We make all our own sheaths as well utilizing 10-12 oz leather in three different styles, traditional, pouch and a wrap around with retention snap.

Well we blew the water pump and a belt on the way home from a show and have been waiting for the parts for a couple hours. I can't say I'm upset though...the weather is great, we had church service and football on the phones and discovered the best coffee shop that makes yummy sourdough! Every knife has a story, but this one hits close to home.

On the bench today is a custom 8.25-inch clip point chef knife with an absolute powerhouse blade. This is a complex three-material twist Damascus, meticulously forged from a high-performance blend of L6, 52100, and 1084 high-carbon steels. The result is a striking, deep-contrast pattern with an edge built to work hard and stay sharp at a solid 60 HRC.

But the real heart of this knife is in the handle.
The grip features a piece of rich Madagascar ebony that my dad brought home years ago, perfectly paired with a beautiful piece of purple lilac wood cut straight from my dad’s yard. Turning raw material with that kind of family history into a high-performance culinary tool is exactly why I stoke the forge every day.

This is true heirloom quality.

The best part of blade-making is how your own story influences the art. This knife is exactly what I wish I’d had strapped to my ruck during my time as an Army infantryman. It replaces the old short machete I used to carry with something way cooler and twice as versatile.

Think of it like a modern engineer pioneer sword. From chopping sector stakes and slicing 550 cord to digging a fighting position—this tool can do it all.
