This one’s a big deal around here.

This season, Daniel stepped away from guiding clients to sit in the blind with Dax as he harvested his first-ever deer…a buck. Long before the hunt, Dax has been a huge part of the day-to-day at Kaw River Outfitters and has earned his spot out there: checking trail cameras, helping with feed, building blinds, and learning what it takes to manage ground the right way.

We partnered with Boone’s Trail Deer Recovery, and the deer was located very quickly the following day. Unfortunately, coyotes had gotten to the meat before us, which was disappointing for a young hunter excited to process and eat his first harvest. Even so, this experience delivered something just as important: education, teamwork, responsibility, and respect for the land and wildlife.

This is how the next generation of ethical hunters is raised. Memories were made. Proud doesn’t even cover it.
