County Will Morrigans Women's Rugby Founded in 2004 in Manhattan, IL. We are a DII team that is fun & competitive. We are a family on & off the field. Our motto is "'til the day I die"

The Morrigans were established in 2003 by Jenna (12er) and Bridget (Titch). The team started out with very few players and practiced with our men's team, the Shamrocks. Since then the team as grown and now competes at a Division II level. In 2009 we were 1st in the Central League of the Western Division of the Midwest Rugby Football Union, which gave us our first opportunity to play in the Midwest RFU Championship. Our team is just as fun as we are competitive. We take our games seriously but we take the after party even more seriously. We are a very close family that accepts everyone for who they are. We look forward to practices and games not only because rugby is the best sport ever but also because we can't wait to see each other and just have fun. This team is guaranteed to supply you with knowledge of rugby, best friends and memories of a lifetime, just ask any Morrigan. That’s why our motto is “til the day I die”.

Our next ✨Player Spotlight✨ goes to Kayla!!!

Kayla is an ultimate utility player, she can step into just about any position on the field and play it at a high level. She’s never afraid to do the dirty work, and she’ll tackle anyone who gets in her way.

Her dedication to fitness shows and gives her a competitive edge on the field. But what makes Kayla truly special is the way she elevates everyone around her. She’s the kind of teammate you want to have on your team.

Drop a congratulations in the comments for our badass #7

Whats your favorite part of being on the Morrigans?
-The camaraderie on and off the field. For someone whose family is mostly overseas, the Morrigans has become my family here.

What’s one thing rugby has taught you that you use outside of the sport?
-One thing rugby taught me that I use outside of the sport is kind of like what Coach Dave used to say: running straight and tackling challenges head on instead of running away from them. Supporting each other. Handling pressure—keep pushing through and getting back up no matter how many times you get tackled—it’s the same in real life.

If you weren’t playing rugby, what sport would you play?
-If I wasn’t playing rugby… I’d be playing basketball but suck at it. Or I would’ve tried harder to get into UFC or boxing.

What’s a completely random fact about you that your teammates probably don’t know?
- I’ve never had a twinky

LET EM KNOW🏉🔥

Yesterday was a true test of grit, determination, and heart. The conditions were soaking wet, the odds weren’t exactly in our favor, and none of it phased the Morrigans. From the first whistle to the last, this team fought for every inch of the pitch and put everything they had into the game.

This was one of the best games we’ve put on the field. Hard fought, physical, relentless rugby from start to finish. And with only five points separating the two teams, you already know it was a battle. With a total score coming out to 12-17 we couldn’t be more proud of how our team played!

We may have come up just short this time, but every game makes this team stronger. Every challenge, every tough moment, every hard earned lesson adds fuel to what comes next.

The next time the Morrigans and Sirens meet, expect another intense matchup. We’ll be back stronger, hungrier, and ready to fight for that win. 💚🧡

Whatever happens, it’s a game you won’t want to miss.
