County Will Morrigans Women's Rugby

County Will Morrigans Women's Rugby Founded in 2004 in Manhattan, IL. We are a DII team that is fun & competitive. We are a family on & off the field. Our motto is "'til the day I die"�

The Morrigans were established in 2003 by Jenna (12er) and Bridget (Titch). The team started out with very few players and practiced with our men's team, the Shamrocks. Since then the team as grown and now competes at a Division II level. In 2009 we were 1st in the Central League of the Western Division of the Midwest Rugby Football Union, which gave us our first opportunity to play in the Midwest

RFU Championship. Our team is just as fun as we are competitive. We take our games seriously but we take the after party even more seriously. We are a very close family that accepts everyone for who they are. We look forward to practices and games not only because rugby is the best sport ever but also because we can't wait to see each other and just have fun. This team is guaranteed to supply you with knowledge of rugby, best friends and memories of a lifetime, just ask any Morrigan. That’s why our motto is “til the day I die”.

This weeks ✨PLAYER SPOTLIGHT✨ is DELANEY KOSAR!!!💚

We’re excited to highlight Delaney, who is entering her third season with the Morrigans! She’s always taking in every piece of information and feedback to become the best player she can be.

She’s at every practice, team event, and game, while constantly helping recruit and grow our team. Her dedication and commitment to the Morrigans truly shows!

We’re excited to watch her continue to grow and develop as a player this season! 🏉💚🧡

What made you start playing?
I was looking for something to do with myself and something fun put my time towards

What’s your favorite memory with your team?
Favorite memory the team is when we won Pigfest and ate first! It was a grueling, but worthwhile day

What’s a goal you have for yourself this season?
My goal for this season is to work on my tackling (and it could be fun to score a try)

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Summer! 💚🧡

Summer is the kind of teammate who makes everyone around her better. She brings nothing but positivity to the pitch, is always willing to lend a hand, and takes the time to help her teammates learn, improve, and better understand the game of rugby.
She truly embodies everything you could want in a great teammate

And coming over from our friends at the Banshees, Summer has brought that same spirit of teamwork and camaraderie with her. We’re so excited to have her with us this season! 💚

What do you love about rugby?: don’t think there is anything I don’t love about rugby.
It is my passion. Rugby is my heart and my home. (I could write poetry about it.)
My absolute favorite thing about rugby is that it takes 15 people, united to play well. It all comes down to that fluidity, connection. The way set pieces connect us from the scrum to the extension across the open pitch of the glorious backline.


Favorite position: My favorite position is hard to pin down. I love managing the movement of the game from scrumhalf. And passing is an art that I miss when I’m in the forward pack. But I also LOVE playing Ho**er where I get to feel the entire pack in unison and lead the drive!
Flanker is the most fun though, less pressure. Just pure freedom to fill in on the backline, hit every ruck you have energy for, tackle and tackle some more.
(I struggle with identifying best and favorites.)

Favorite rugby memory: My favorite memory was getting second place with a Wisconsin team in Whiskey Tens. It was FREEZING cold, and that’s when I’m at my best. I played ho**er and scrum half throughout the tournament. If it’s raining or snowing, I’m in rugby heaven!

The preseason is officially behind us, and now it’s time to get down to business! This Saturday marks our FIRST LEAGUE MATCH of the season, and we could not be more excited to finally get back out there and compete. 💚☘️

After all the practices, hard work, new faces, and preparation, we’re ready to put it all together on the pitch and see what this season has in store for us. We’ve been working for this moment, and we’re ready to bring the energy! 💪🏉

Each week, we’ll highlight a Morrigan (chosen by coaches) who has gone above and beyond, whether through outstanding teamwork, marked improvement, a positive attitude, extra effort, or making a meaningful impact both on and off the pitch.

We had SUCH a great first Thursday practice!!

It was awesome to finally hit the pitch with the banshees as they officially join us for the season !! 💜

We’re so grateful for the chance to share the field and everything we’ll build together. The Morrigans believe rugby is about more than the game. So while the Banshees club rebuilds this year, we’re proud to welcome them with open arms and provide a space they can temporarily call home.
