The Barton Community College men's golf team swung their way through the windy elements on Monday in their fall finale capturing the Barton Invitational held at Great Bend's Stone Ridge Golf Course.

The Cougars carded a 303 on the opening eighteen of the 36-hole competition jumping out to a fifteen stroke lead over Coffeyville Community College. Led by the even par 71 fired by Antoine Martinot in the opening round, William Barnak's 71 in the second eighteen helped the Cougars' to a 298 to increase the final margin to thirty-three strokes over the Red Ravens.

Overall, Barton placed five golfers inside the top ten of the fourteen-man field being led by Martinot's rounds of 71 and 72 landing the freshman atop the leaderboard at 1-over 143.

Barnak bounced back from his opening 77 to take round two honors by a five stroke improvement finishing runner-up at 6-over 148. Carlos Conceicao also improved in the afternoon sun, carding a 76 and 74 for an 8-over 150 giving Barton the top three spots.

Unfortunately going the other way on the leaderboard during the afternoon but hanging on to a top ten finish, Panupong Chuaychoo began the final round tied for 6th after posting an 8-over 79 but closed with an 81 to finish seventh at 18-over 160 and one spot ahead of twin brother Takerngsak Chuaychoo who carded rounds of 82 and 85 for a 25-over 167 tournament.

The Barton Community College men's golf team placed fifth on Tuesday completing the two-day Blue Devil Invitational held at Dub's Dread Golf Club in Kansas City, Kansas.

The Cougars figured out one of the nation's longest distance golf course of 6745 yards on the second day of competition, posting the six team entries' second best round of 310 to finish the tournament three strokes out of third place as an opening score of 325 left the team at 59-over 635.

Making his Barton debut, Carlos Conceicao led the team in finishing tied for fifth of the thirty-seven entry field after posting consistent rounds of 76 and 77 to compile a 9-over 153.

Moving up into the top fifteen, Panupong Chuaychoo shaved three strokes off Monday's 80 scorecard in climbing four spots to a 13th place tie at 13-over 157.

William Barnak also moved up four spots in final round action by following an 82 with a 79 carding for a combined 17-over 161 in tying for the 18th spot.

Joining the two others shooting a Tuesday score of 77, Antoine Martinot made the largest jump up the standings for the Cougars as the final round countered the opening 87 to move into a 23rd place tie at 20-over 164.

Rounding out the team entries in a tie for the 26th position, Takerngsak Chuaychoo climbed up four spots with 87 and 81 rounds for a two-day 24-over 168 score while individualist Brett Thompson's twin 97 rounds placed tied for 26th at 50-over 194.

Barton won't have to travel far for its final tournament of the fall season as the Cougars make the short drive Monday to its home StoneRidge Golf Course in hosting the one-day, 36-hole Barton Invitational set for a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

The Cougar men found themselves just five strokes out of second following Monday's 306 score but like their women counterparts, Barton struggled on Tuesday. Adding some illness to the course challenges, the Cougars limped into the clubhouse in seventh place of the ten team field with a 326 to accumulate a two-day total of 64-over 632.

Men's Recap
William Barnak paved the way landing as the lone Cougar inside the top five of the fifty-four man field, posting an opening 1-under 70 before carding a final round 73 finishing the tournament at 1-over 143.

Panupong Chuaychoo dipped outside the top-fifteen following a 75 with a final day 86 to place 33rd at 19-over 161. Antoine Martinot moved up two spots in the standings into a tie for 35th by shaving three strokes off Monday's score with an 80 to compile a 21-over 163.

Takerngsak Chuaychoo also joined the team 'theme-of-the-day', carding an 87 to drop thirteen spots from an opening 78 placing 40th at 23-over 165.

Joining Martinot as the lone pair of Cougars to improve in round two, individualist Brett Thompson recovered from an opening 98 to fire an 85 for a 41-over 183 in placing 51st.

Austin Hoberman's opening 88 score was all the freshman could post in the two days as the illness bug struck in forcing a tournament withdraw leaving the Cougars little room for error with the four-man team in the final round.

Barton's next action comes October 7 as the Cougars compete in the two-day Blue Devil Fall Classic held at Dub's Dread Golf Course in Kansas City, Kansas.

Wounded Warrior 2019

Great day at Wounded Warrior 2019 charity event.
Team Marion Church 3 finished tied for first in today’s charity event. The team included Antoine Martinot and William Barnak. Together with their team they carded a 58 (-14) to tie for first. Also Carlos Conceição and Madison Peters competed in today’s scramble. The rest of the cougar men and women helped along during the day to make sure everything was going smooth. Great day and nice being able to help with the event. We can’t wait for next year!

The Barton Community College men's golf team rallied in the final round of the Central Kansas Classic to grab third place at the two-day event held at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course.

The Cougars sat in the fourth spot of the six-team leaderboard with Monday rounds of 3-5 and 309 but fired a 294 in Tuesday morning's final round to leapfrog into the third position with a 68-over 908. Fellow Region VI member Garden City Community College ran away with the team title with four of the top five golfers compiling an 8-over 848. Host Central Christian College was twenty strokes better than the Cougars for the second spot while Hesston College finished eight strokes in Barton in fourth.

William Barnak was the lone Cougar in the top ten of the thirty-eight man field, climbing five spots behind a 1-over 71 final round to a 7th place tie at 11-over 221.

Barton's next meet is Monday in a road trip to Wentzville, Missouri, to compete in the two-day Crossroads JUCO Invitational held at The Golf Club of Wentzville.
