THE (STANDARD) RULES?
There are different rules throughout the country for the game, but these are ours, the most common, and the best:
- Two poles, each with a bottle resting on top, are set 30 feet apart.
- Teams of team are on each side, behind the poles, facing off against each other.
- The offensive team's players alternative throwing a frisbee and trying to knock off the other team's bottle. The defending team has to let the frisbee cross the plane of the pole (or hit the pole) before trying to catch it.
- If the defending team drops the frisbee, it's 1 point for the throwing team. If they drop the bottle (if it gets knocked off), it's 2 points for the throwing team (maximum 3 points possible). If the defending team catches the frisbee and catches the bottle in the frisbee upside down (hard to do), they get 3 points.
- The frisbee must be thrown to be catchable, ie: not too hard, not too high or wide, and above the shins.
- Only ONE HAND can be used to catch or throw the frisbee; one-hand traps against the body are allowed. A drink or non-glass bottle has to be in one of every player's hands at all times. In the tournament, we require a solo cup of liquid. Beer
is often preferred!
- First team to score 21 or more points wins. Must win by 2.
