Introducing your Surfside Legends…
AUGUST RASKIE | 15 LEGENDS 🌊
August Raskie brings elite collegiate and professional playing experience to Surfside Volleyball Club. She competed for Colorado Juniors and Front Range Volleyball Club before becoming an All-American at the University of Oregon.
August continued her career professionally, playing in France’s A1 league for two seasons, Italy’s A1 league for two seasons, and Major League Volleyball for three seasons. Her accomplishments include being named MVP of the French Cup and MVP of the Global World Challenge.
She coaches because volleyball taught her countless lessons, and she enjoys being of service to athletes who want to learn, improve, and challenge themselves.

TOMMY CHAFFINS | 16 LEGENDS 🌊
Few coaches bring the championship experience, volleyball knowledge, and proven leadership that Tommy Chaffins brings to Surfside.
A longtime head coach at Redondo Union High School, Tommy is a multi-time CIF and State Championship coach and a former PrepVolleyball National Coach of the Year. Throughout his career, he has helped develop high-level athletes, build championship-caliber teams, and create cultures rooted in accountability, trust, and competing for one another.
Tommy is a direct and intentional coach who challenges athletes to raise their standards while helping them understand what it takes to succeed as part of a team. His focus extends beyond individual skill development to communication, cohesion, work ethic, and the habits required to compete at the highest level.
At Surfside, Tommy brings invaluable experience and a passion for helping athletes improve, build confidence, and become better teammates.

AVA HURRY | 17 LEGENDS 🌊
Ava Hurry brings 13 years of playing experience and three seasons of coaching experience to Surfside Volleyball Club. She was a four-year varsity player and two-year captain in high school, earning Player of the Year, two varsity MVP awards, and two All-Tournament Team selections.
