🏸 Please Help Save Women’s Badminton at El Camino College 🏸

Many of our MBBC members have strong ties to the ECC Women’s Badminton program. Current team member Anya Gore is one of our club members, and longtime MBBC member John Britton served as ECC’s Women’s Badminton head coach for more than 20 years before his passing three years ago. David stepped in to continue John’s legacy.

Last year, ECC eliminated both Women’s Tennis and Women’s Badminton due to budget cuts. David has spent over a year fighting for these athletes, leading to an OCR investigation into possible Title IX violations. As a result, ECC reinstated Women’s Tennis on April 30—but Women’s Badminton has still not been restored.

David isn’t giving up, and neither should we.

Dear Badminton Friends,

The 2026 U.S. Open Badminton Championships will be held June 23–28, and we are looking for volunteers to help welcome international players arriving at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Volunteers will be stationed at the baggage claim area to greet players, assist them in locating tournament transportation, and help ensure they have a smooth arrival experience.

Volunteer Dates and Times

Thursday, June 19: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Friday, June 20: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 21: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
We are seeking four volunteers per four-hour shift throughout the three arrival days.

As a thank-you for your assistance, volunteers will receive two complimentary tickets for each shift worked.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet world-class badminton athletes from around the globe while supporting one of the premier badminton events in the United States.
