Ok great 3 on 3 today, wasn’t sure how it was going to be as we have so many doing football and soccer on Saturday. Today in my opinion was fantastic for both sessions, honestly we could have done three sessions with amount that came. You just never know, one mom gave me a great idea. Do next week in evening as most games are in morning. More players can attend. I will talk with Marc about this idea.
So I was shown that Coquille has started or put out dates for Fall Basketball Registration. PPark and Covington will do so soon as well. By all means play Recreational basketball. Here I go again for the 20th year in a row. Yes it will be half ass at times, yes they call breathing as a foul, yes your child will be in foul trouble, yes the coaches kid will most likely be the point, shoot all the shots, never come out game, yes your child’s team will only have 2 kids that can play, yes one dads or moms team will be stacked,
BUT it will be good for your child, I talk to them every week about what to expect and how to handle the situations.
We can talk about All Stars, lol. That is another totally different world.

Now last weekend we did the Boys and Girls Club 3 on 3 in Covington. Always a good time and cause. I watched a few games, aggravated a couple people and left. What we should all get from events like these is how did MY CHILD Do? Not how did my kids team do, that is totally irrelevant. I had 7 of our players personally come to me and say coach you know so and so, I shut him or her down in our game. I did not let him or her drive and shoot, they never got a rebound, I intimidated them. That is what made last Saturday great in my eyes. Those type events are for our players to test and see where they are in respect to those players that may believe they are superior. Players act like they are it because of teams, parents, all stars, etc. When in reality, when players are isolated in 3 on 3 or 1 on 1 they may not be who they think they are. We train to test those type beliefs, fail ok, work and train harder. Understand your issues and fix them. Succeed and work even harder and make sure that player knows that you know things changed. You are on top and that isn’t changing anytime soon. Confidence is a SCARY thing.

Now parents we are putting together a shooting section in the gym. Marc is handling this and should be set up maybe this Monday if not hopefully next Monday. We will let you know who and how you can get involved. It will be accessible to all who come to training during the week and on weekends.
We will change Monday a little.
6:30 will be 3/4/5/6 grade
7:30 will be Shooting Group
8:00 will be 7/8/9 grade
Very similar to what I do with BIGS on Wednesday.
We purchased some shooting apparatus to help our players produce a more consistent form. I believe this will be a game changer for our players.
Marc will post more information Sunday and Monday.
