What an incredible week at Worlds!

🏆 Before diving into the results: Don’t mistake the length of this list for an easy tournament—far from it. The competition was intense, with a level of challenge well beyond what we typically see at local and regional events. Every one of these accomplishments was earned through hard training, grit, and heart.

(If I missed anyone or made a mistake—please let me know! I’ll be posting a separate update with season points soon, including several top 10 competitors who couldn't attend Worlds.)

PRESENTING THE MASTER PHILLIP KOEPPEL TRIAS CUP COMPETITION! The United States Karate Alliance has been granted the privilege of hosting the Master Phillip Koeppel Trias Cup at the 2023 USKA World Championships July 20-23 in Phoenix, Arizona. The Trias Cup competition was initiated in 2000 by Master Phillip Koeppel to honor his instructor, Grandmaster Robert A. Trias. This event is restricted to Adult Black Belt kata divisions only. The Master Phillip Koeppel Trias Cup will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Arizona Grand Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. The Trias Cup divisions are as follow: Black Belt Masters (5th Dan and above), Black Belt Men Executive (over age 40 and 4th Dan and below), Black Belt Men (Japanese/Okinawan, under 40 and 4th Dan and below), Black Belt Men (Korean, under 40 and 4th Dan and below); Black Belt Men (Soft Style – all ranks and ages); Black Belt Women (under 40); Black Belt Women Executive (over 40). The first and second place finalists from each division then compete for the Master Phillip Koeppel Trias Cup. The total scores from all rings, minus the high and low scores are calculated and combined to determine the winner of the Master Phillip Koeppel Trias Cup. We hope you can join us for this prestigious event being held to honor Grandmaster Robert A. Trias and Grandmaster Phillip Koeppel. Each finalist then performs three different kata, each one in a different ring with nine different judges.
