Mandan wrestler’s US Marine Corps 16U/Junior Nationals comes to an end. We are extremely proud of our guys and the work they put in this summer. We look forward to a nice break, but you know they will be ready come November!

Five Mandan wrestlers represented North Dakota at USAW Junior National Duals this week. Tate Sailer, Maddox Slater, Hunter McGrane, Brooks Leintz and Austin Bass competed at one of the hardest dual tournaments in the nation. Tate Sailer made the All-Tournament Team in Greco-Roman going 9-0. Mandan is proud of these 5 studs!

Great tournament to end the year guys!! I think we wrestled our very best at the perfect time to do so. The guys competed really hard and left it all out on the mat. I know some guys didnt get the results you were looking for but now you know where you stand and what you need to work on going forward. I am very pleased with how our team ended the season on all levels. We took 3rd as a team in the 7/8th division! Which is very good with only having a certain amount of “scorers” at the tournament.

Here is our team results from the Al Larson Tournament in Carrington, ND. The team wrestled hard and took 5th place with 142.5pts. Our individual placers were:

Extra congratulations to one of our team captains Maddox Slater on receiving 1 of the 3 Brock Gussiaas Awards for being a dominant wrestler in the middle weights. Maddox had two majors and two tech falls en route to taking 1st place. In the finals he techfall’d the current #2 ranked wrestler in class B. Congrats Maddox!

Mandan takes out Jamestown 59-13 tonight. We only lost 3 matches out of the 13 weights! Great team win and tonight our Dude of the Dual was our Freshman 172 wrestler Colten Ohlhauser for his victory by pinfall. The guy’s next competition will be the Al Larson Tournament in Carrington on Saturday.

Mandan ended up 6th out of 11 teams with 174pts at the Mandan Lions Wrestling Tournament in our home gym last weekend. Here were our placers:

Weather permitting: MHS takes on the Jamestown Bluejays at home on Thursday, 12/11. Get out and support your Mandan Braves. Varsity action will start around 7pm.

Results from last night. Coach Steinwand and I thought we saw a lot of grit and toughness from our guys last night. Regardless of outcome, we were dang proud of the boys. The wrestlers know that W’s and L’s mean nothing to us, so we hope you parents/guardians understand that as well. Our main goal is to get better at wrestling, have fun and give 100% effort. We have some things to work on, but team culture has been at an all time high this year. Our Dude of the Dual was Owen Bahm (sophomore) with his inside cradle pin over Preston Benz (Senior). Owen, thank you for giving our team the spark that we needed.

Mandan definitely came out to Fargo to make some noise.

Tate Sailer wrestled in the first annual Rough Rider Rumble presented by North Dakota Gold Wrestling and he came out with a victory.

The season is a month away and we are ready to go.
