This weekend we headed up to Gatlinburg for Bootleggers Nationals. This tournament continues to grow with 1300+ wrestlers this year from 22 states. We started out Saturday morning with the individual tournament & rolled into the duals tournament later in the evening.

We had 12 wrestlers compete on the individual side, coming away with 8 medalists & 3 champs. Most of these kids also competed in the duals side of the tournament as well, some totaling 10+ matches on the day. I love to see these kids push themselves & accomplish things they didn’t think they could. Special shout-out to Neyland Dalton for going 9-0 on the day between individuals & duals! Full individual results at the bottom of post.

Coaches Chase Hodges & Judy Husk led our GZ Girls team to a Runner-Up finish going 3-1 in the Girls HS division. These 2 have selflessly helped our club so much & If I’m not mistaken, every team they have taken to an off season tournament has placed over the last 3 years. Shout out to Blackman, MTTC & Summit for sharing your girls with us & making this possible. Many of these girls were bumping up from middle school and/or competing on a national level for the 1st time & all showed they more than belong!

Our 15u GZ Boys team was headed up by Coaches Randall Jennings, Sean Sanders & Jeremiah Wardell. These boys battled their way to a 3rd place finish going 4-1 on the day with our lone loss to the champs. We had boys from Coffee Co, Warren Co, Tullahoma & Blackman on this team so shout out to each! Through lineup changes, last minute drop outs & kids bumping up, these boys just would not be denied! Multiple close duals coming down to the wire & bonus points making the difference for us, even with 3 FFs! Proud of these guys for battling all the way through & showing class while doing it!
