Tottenham don't have the minerals to bully us in the market. We literally took Mbeumo from them right after they beat us in the Europa League final, even with them offering crazy wages and trying to overpay.

Mbeumo still chose us and we got him for a reasonable fee.

See zero difference with this Mateus situation. Fully confident we beat any team to his signature.

If we get the 23/24 Summerville, we have a real player. I know it was in the Championship, but that was his most complete season.

Unfortunately, he has not been able to replicate that level of output in the Premier League, where he has played four seasons.

The fundamentals are there, though, he is the exact 1v1 winger you would want in isolation with a defender.

If we can bring that price down to £30m, I think I would back the signing as depth he is not the worst player.
