We would like to introduce you to a unique club of talented young men and women who have found their passion in motorsports. These children, ages 5 β 16 years old, along with their families, are know as Susquehanna Quarter Midget Association (SQMA). SQMA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is as follows:
To foster and promote the development of sports competition in the area of quarter midget automobile racing through education in the principles of safety, vehicle operation and driving skills and to encourage, develop and promote good sportsmanship, fellowship, responsibility, competition, cooperation and moral and ethical values through education, training and opportunities to compete locally, regionally and nationally; To establish and maintain suitable grounds, tracks, safety and scoring equipment to conduct racing exhibitions and competitions.
Quarter midget racing is a great way for children to be introduced into the world of motorsports, which is a popular attraction in our area of Central Pennsylvania. Many of the drivers that compete at local dirt tracks got their start in quarter midgets. Our club unfortunately lost our home track at the close of 2023 as the track was used to pave the way for a larger track made for faster cars. Our club has been searching high and low over the 2024 year for land to build a new track as many of our club families simply cannot afford to travel the 2 hour distance to the next local dirt quarter midget race rack. At the end of 2024, we were fortunate to have gained permission to use land from a private landowner to build a new track in York Springs. Our club already has started planning, and we are expecting to begin racing at our new home this Spring.
