You do not see Krav Maga winning UFC titles because Krav Maga was not built for winning UFC titles.

That is not an insult.

That is called understanding context.

MMA is a sport.

A brutal one.
A skilled one.
A high-level one.

But it is still a sport.

Self-defense has a different problem set.

Weapons.
Ambushes.
Multiple attackers.
Bad footing.
No referee.
Escape.
Legal aftermath.
Getting home alive.

That does not make self-defense better than MMA.

It makes it different.

At American Drengr Krav Maga in Manassas, Virginia, we respect combat sports.

But we also understand that real-world violence has chapters the cage does not cover.

If your entire understanding of violence comes from a cage with rules, you are missing a few chapters.

Fake art? Or fake training?

People love saying Krav Maga is fake.

Fine.

Let’s be honest.

Some Krav Maga training is garbage.

So is some boxing.
So is some jiu-jitsu.
So is some karate.
So is some traditional martial arts.
So is some modern combatives training.

The problem usually is not the name on the door.

It is the training standard.

If you do not pressure test…

If you do not hit with intent…

If you do not train under stress…

If you do not deal with resistance, fatigue, fear, and chaos…

Then yes — you are probably teaching fantasy.

We defend standards.

Because real self-defense training should be judged by what holds up under pressure.

Not by what looks good in a debate online.

Combatoves and Krav Maga was not my starting point.

I did not discover Combatives or Krav Maga and suddenly decide I was a self-defense expert.

That is not how this works.

Before American Drengr, there were years of:

• martial arts training
• teaching experience
• studying how people actually learn
• working through different systems
• exposure to real-life violence
• learning what holds up under pressure

Krav Maga gave me a more direct framework for real-world violence.

But it was added onto a foundation that already existed.

That matters.

Because systems matter.

Curriculum matters.

Pressure testing matters.

But the instructor’s foundation matters too.

At American Drengr Krav Maga in Manassas, Virginia, the way we teach self-defense comes from more than one system, one certification, or one weekend course.
