Coalfield Fury 8u Softball Travel team based out of Man Wv.

Tough weekend in Johnson City. Competeted very well at times. Played two of the best 8u teams that we’ve seen. Both teams crush the ball every at bat. Good experience and a lot of learning.

We came up a little short in the end but It was a great day full of big time moments that we saw each kid step up in and make a play. This team continues to grow and get better and that’s always the number 1 goal. No matter if these girls get up 10 or down 10 there’s never quit in them. Effort will always beat talent if talent doesn’t give effort. Great tournament!!

The girls will be back in action tomorrow at Bob Amos Park in Pikeville, Kentucky . Let’s go win some games girls 🥎

Camila Altizer

Camila is 7 years old and attends school as a 1st grader at Gilbert PK8. She has played softball for 2 years and it has quickly became her favorite sport. Her favorite thing about softball is getting big hits. She is always asking to practice on her free time and working to get better. Outside of softball , she is also a cheerleader and she plays basketball. She loves to keep busy and try new things. She is excited for her first year with Coalfield Fury!

Coaches thoughts
Even though this is her first year with us we have watched her play the last couple years in rec. Camila is a very good hitter and can play about anywhere you put her on the field. She is passionate about the game and you can tell she is very eager to learn and grow in the game. We are excited to have her join us this year and can’t wait to watch her grow!

Coalfield fury 8u would like to introduce our players

Last but not least

Ava Taylor
#10
2nd base
This is Ava’s 4th year playing softball. Her favorite thing about softball is throwing runners out and catching pop ups. She is in the 2nd grade and attends school at Man Elementary. She loves sports , she’s a competitor , when she’s not at the softball field you can find her with a basketball in her hand. She also plays travel basketball. She is one active little girl full of personality . She can’t wait for this travel ball season to begin.

Coaches thoughts: Ava is an absolute fire ball that any coach would want on their team. She is an outstanding kid with a very high IQ of the game and she knows what she is doing on every single play. She has an excellent glove and she can really stroke the ball when she’s on her game. She is a fiery competitor who brings it all to the table. She is the sweet kid who loves everyone while also carrying that mean side. You do not want to trash talk Ava or her teammates because this kid will give it back to you and she never backs down from a battle! Every dugout should have an Ava and her fiery spirit!

Amelia “Millie” Mullins
#25
Amelia is in her third year of Softball. She also plays basketball at Huff Consolidated, where she attends school. Amelia has one younger brother who is just getting started in t-ball and she loves helping him learn the game. Her favorite things about softball are getting big hits and being on the field with her teams.

Coaches thoughts: Millie is an outstanding kid who loves the game. She came over from baileysville last year and has really settled right in with us. She has developed her arm very well and made big strides hitting the ball and we’re really looking for her to take off at the plate this year. She gives 100% in all that she does and she does an excellent job in the outfield and backing up every throw. Millie is a coachable kid who always has a contagious smile. We can’t wait to watch her continue to grow with us this year!

Desi Staten
#3

Desi is currently in first grade at Man Elementary. She loves reading, math, and drawing.

Desi has a huge love for softball and basketball both, although she says softball is her number one. Her favorite thing about softball is when the bat hits the ball.

This upcoming season will be Desi’s second season of softball. She plays hard and if she doesn’t get it the first time, she will keep trying until she does.

Desi has a sister, Lorelai, who also enjoys basketball and softball. She wants to play for the Hillbillies just like her big sister. She also has a basketball playing big brother, Jagger, who she constantly competes with and who helps her get better.

Coaches thoughts : Desi is an outstanding kid and player . Just like Georgia she is always looking to get better and improve in all areas of her gamer . Desi is small but her heart makes her mighty. Desi can play just about anywhere you want to put her and is always willing to learn. She has very good feet and her arm continues to develop. Desi is starting to carry some “pop” in her bat at the plate and it all comes from work ethic. I show up to practice and she’s already there with her dad working. She’s very coachable and she loves the game. Always up for the challenge and never accepts failure.
