Yesterday was an Easter like most of us have personally never had before. I wasn’t distracted by all the things in life, the meeting on Monday the calls on Tuesday the presentation on Wednesday, the swell on Thursday, be the first to get the fresh POW, and on and on it goes just fill in the blank. Nothing bad, all blessings, and yet they have a way of keeping us from getting to a place that we can fully focus of the miracle and majesty of the Cross and the grave defeated!
Because of the current crisis many of those blessings, our daily routines and busy lifestyles have been ground down to a near stand still. Jobs are lost, health is being taken, freedoms are showing their vulnerability and uncertainty rules the day.
It’s strange how it takes hardships, sorrow and our lack of control to force us to consider much deeper things. The normal and natural reaction for us is to figure out how to control all these real situations and fears. We initially turn to human wisdom, we look horizontally at each other rather than up toward our creator. .
We meditate and focus on ‘our inner strength’ looking deep into self, we also turn to fitness and keeping our bodies tuned up, we turn to community via social media to hopefully hear someone give us that one liner that pulls us out of our funk, or again fill in the blank for what that something is for you.
We run from one thing to another to fill ourselves and we realize that deep within is a desire for Truth, Purpose, and Meaning that can calm our fears, relieve our sorrow, tamp our anger, fill us with joy and peace, fill that missing something so many are searching for.
What we are searching for is perfect love. We don’t have to be clean and perfect, we can’t be anyway, he came to save the outcast, the sinners, the hurting, the broken, not the righteous religious zealots. That’s what brings me so much joy, no matter what I’ve done it’s all wiped clean and I no longer need to strive. I’m fully loved and fully saved. He conquered sin and death and gave us the gift of salvation and eternal life on the cross! He is Risen He is risen indeed!
