I get a lot of questions about what types of oils people should be consuming and cooking with.
I also know there is a lot of conflicting information on this topic, so here are my recs.

Ideally your oil should be low in saturated fat (less than 4g per Tbsp). Oils with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are the way to go, as they lower your LDL cholesterol, raise your HDL cholesterol, and contain nutrients and antioxidants — avoid saturated fats such as palm oil at all costs!

Olive oil is the healthiest cooking oil hands down, and I use it for almost everything. Salad dressings, grilling meat and fish, sautéing veggies, and even scrambling eggs. It is so versatile, can stand up to high cooking heats, and full of Vitamin E. Other healthy unsaturated oils include avocado, sesame, and safflower.

I also like olive oil and avocado cooking sprays to keep foods from sticking to the pan, and let’s not forget butter! A pat of organic butter on a baked potato is delicious and NOT an unhealthy choice — butter is back!

Collagen is a vital protein in your body that supports bone density, joint health, skin elasticity, and flexibility — all of which are extremely important!. Your body makes its own collagen and there are some simple ways to boost its production, such as eating collagen rich proteins, like eggs, bone broth and collagen protein powder.

Be sure to also drink plenty of water, eat Vitamin C rich foods (citrus and bell peppers for example), and plenty of nutrient rich plants. They all help your body absorb collagen.

Should you take a daily probiotic? I do, and often recommend them to clients. Probiotics are the “good” gut bacteria that help support your digestion, fight an overgrowth of bad bacteria, and boost your immune system. Many people find they get fewer viruses and colds when they begin taking a probiotic. If you do not like taking pills, you can get probiotics from fermented foods, such as Greek yogurt, kefir, or pickles and sauerkraut, but it is unlikely you will get all the bacteria strains from food alone.
Probiotics are also extremely helpful if you have GI issues like bloating, gassiness, and constipation. And if you are on antibiotics I definitely recommend taking a probiotic while taking them, and for weeks after. Bacteria is not always a bad thing!
