As part of our 2026 Spring Equine Education Week, riders, staff, and volunteers were able to listen and learn from Nicole Scherrer, DVM, DACVO, associate professor of clinical large animal ophthalmology at Penn Vet New Bolton Center.

As part of the ACVO Service Animal Volunteer Eye Screening event, Penn Vet New Bolton Center ophthalmologists conducted free eye exams for several of our horses, including Jubilee and Poem, pictured.

Thank you to Dr. Scherrer for your insight and for granting our community the opportunity to learn!

Therapeutic Riders Division Show Gratitude Post!

Since 1988, Maire Guggenheim has been T.R.D.'s fearless champion. With quiet dedication, she organizes the show from top-to-bottom, tirelessly ensuring that competing riders, coaches, and volunteers have the day they have spent months preparing for.

From organizing entries, to scheduling times, to confirming judges, volunteers, and all the many pieces in between, this show would not be possible without her dedication, kindness, (laughter!), and advocacy.

We are forever grateful for her continued commitment to T.R.D. and to the literal thousands of riders she has made this day possible for.

Thank you, Maire!
