Lamees discovered the profound benefits of exercise later in life. Her new-found passion drove her to switch careers and become a trainer and health coach. She wanted to be a guide and advocate to people like the person she was when she first walked into a gym: inexperienced and unsure of what to do, but wanting to get in shape and establish routines and habits for better, long-term wellbeing. She

enjoys programming workouts with variety and just the right amount of challenge. Lamees works primarily with middle-aged and senior individuals, and focuses on full body strength, endurance, and joint stability. Lamees also works closely with clients to address the habits and behaviors that may be undermining their wellness. Having struggled with managing her own weight all her life, Lamees specializes in helping those with larger bodies discover their power and potential through fitness.

ACTION matters most, but the THOUGHTS in your head can foster or hinder you from taking action. These 2 head-work activities will change the course of your day, of life:

𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁: change the narrative in your head towards positivity. You have skills, you have resouces. Don’t let what you think you lack keep you from using what you’ve got. Elevate what is within your power, and leverage it to get better.

𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: looking deeply at what you’re doing, believing, and perpetuating to keep you from a better you. You need to be your most honest critic because nobody will want more for you than you.

While it’s ideal to have a full hour with a client — allowing time for correctives, practicing new movements, foam rolling — it might be hard on the wallet! 💰

Strength training 1X per week — if that’s all your budget and time allows — will also not produce significant gains. Bodies need greater frequency in stimulus to change. 💪🏽

1/2-Hour PT sessions provide an efficient and more affordable option. With the cost close to what a 1-Hour session costs, it’s possible to train 2X a week. 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲, 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐟𝐟! 💪🏽🏋🏽‍♀️

Looks can be deceiving.

I work with so many people who aren't visibly fit or youthful. This group is close to my heart because it's my mission to show them AND the world that fitness is for anyBODY.

These clients prove again and again that you can be any age and size and improve your function, strength, and stamina. And sometimes, even improve health despite not being an "ideal" weight.

Take it from a "big girl," you can lift heavy weights, you can do a 2-minute plank, you can do pushups and pullups.

My grandfather used to say: how you live your 20’s and 30’s will determine how you’ll live your 60’s and 70’s.

In the realm of fitness, it’s no different.

However, I would say you have through your 50’s to improve your future outcomes.

If you notice it’s getting a little harder to…

… Turn over in bed
… Climb your 3 front steps
… Stand up from your chair or toilet

Or, if you find yourself opting for shortcuts like…

… Gripping and pulling your steering wheel to get in/out of the car
… Plopping on your desk chair
… Avoiding kneeling or bending over to pickup items

Your body is sending messages to you.

These are subtle signs you are losing strength and/or mobility. Unadressed, those signs snowball and eventually create a life filled with limitations — in health, function, mental and even social well-being.

As a trainer, of course I endorse the importance of exercise for health.

Increasing aerobic capacity helps your cardiovascular system.

Building muscle improves metabolism.

Improving joint stabilty and core strength increase physical capability and keeps the spine healthy.

But, no amount of exercise will render good health without eating a clean diet and ensuring good-quality sleep.

If you work on nothing else right now, let it be on improving insulin sensitivity, as the Standard American Diet (SAD) is killing us.
