Dispatches from the front:
chronicles his 7th place finish at BWR:
“I ended up 7th which I was content with.
Not as hectic of a start as Sea Otter with a bit less depth in the field. Most of the climbing was in the first half so at mile 50, I was in a group of 10 that was working well chasing Brennan Wertz and Matt Wilson which got a gap before the main climb. It was a good situation.
I was able to hang on the singletrack but on the steeper descents I was not good. Got dropped hard on the main descent. Came out of there in 8th and just decided to chill and stay with the 2 guys around me for the 40 miles home.
We caught Wertz but heard the group was 3-4 min up. On the last climb of the day, I took off and for the first time ever had good legs at the end of the day. I was just motoring home and didn’t realize I finished 15s off one of the guys who fell off the lead group.
Had like 7 bottles so staying hydrated def helped out even though it wasn’t hot.”
